We are a very small operation , 100 laying hens. hoping to double in size this coming season. we feed organic layers pellets. however since we started a few years ago they have pretty much tripled in cost.

This season we swapped to an oats and peas ration we sprout/ferment it, add sodium bicarb at 1% and then free choice feed oyster shell and seaweed meal. The production is definitely lower but the cost is halved.

what are commercial actors doing? how are ye offsetting the massive increase in price over the last few years? is it possible to get organic layers pellets blown by the ton at a discount? is there another option? don't mind mixing our own if we can get a good source of straights etc.
