That might be slightly remarkable, but not as remarkable as brothers playing against each other in an All Ireland Final.

"The ultimate example, of course, was that of the Maguire brothers. In the 1952 All-Ireland final, Des and Liam played for Cavan and their younger brother Brendan lined out for Meath."

Dublin by 4 to 6 points at 6/1 looks value.

Out of the bookies and gone with a random one of Gavin White man of the match at 25/1. I had the same bet in the semi and thought I was on to a winner when he got the early goal.

Also, anyone with any last minute miracle spares and looking to shift it , would happily buy a single as still looking for myself! In the unlikely scenario, send me a PM! Thanks!

I wonder will it be a Kerryman called for a drugs test this year?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    I think Kerry will win.

whatever the result I just hope to fûck that Gough is not the focus of the discussion and derision for either set of supporters or indeed neutrals…

that from the throw in he’s fair, doesn’t bottle the tough decisions and by proxy if he needs to make them he’s not in the aftermath going all out GAA style to give the other team a break or to shaft anyone to even it up…. Forget, the scoreboard the history, the players, the occasion and just referee the match as it unfolds as per the book. His refereeing of the semi was controversial, this was a penalty…>>

Yes, Gough content to award Kerry a second half penalty for a foul that occurred four to five meters outside the square, a genuine challenge, not a deliberate foul but was a foul ok certainly, but one that he went on record in the media after to say he believed was a denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity and was a pull down… a swinging arm towards the ball to dispossess the attacker, a pull down or deliberately done it wasn’t…initial contact gives proper perspective as to where and when the foul occurs, the Powter though swings and reaches at the ball.

    IMG_3498.png

It wasn’t a deliberate ‘pull down’ or deliberate foul he tried to dispossess him, he played the ball attempting to dislodge with a swinging right arm and in attempting to do so did commit the foul and there was cover converging which would have likely intercepted the path of the attacker …. So both the awarding of the black and the penalty was incorrect. A foul 100% a free should have been awarded. Neither commentator even allude to the possibility of a penalty….He received other criticism for many more say minor oversights during the match.

more high profile routine errors in the game as noted by media and other observers… Yet here he is, for the big one.

You are spot on I think. Dublin won't get near them and will be the end of an era for alot of them. Great team but now past it and Kerry will win at there ease tomorrow.

I can't see us losing, we lost by a point last year in the semi without Con, Jack Mac, Mannion and Clucko. David Clifford's talent can't be dismissed, but he played last year and 2019. I was over confident in 1978, but we were going for 3 in a row. We're slight underdogs with PP. Dublin to score most goals and points 9/2 or Fenton to score in both halves and Dublin to win 7/1, are worth a small wager, IMO.

Dublin by 3. I don't think Clifford will have enough support. Geaney, Dara Moynihan etc are mediocre at this level. Kerry midfield are weak enough. Dublin better subs. Kerry need a Clifford miracle, and he's the one man could.

Kerry remind me a little of Limerick hurlers in 2019. They are still vulnerable as shown v Cork and v Mayo.

There not as hardened mentally and physically as Limerick would be now. That ability to change tactics themselves on the pitch. That ultra professionalism. They will probably do a 3 in a row but I think it will be 2024-2026.

Dublin were the same in 2014, beatable and a bit of hubris about them. But learned lessons.

Fine for you to have an opinion that Kerry will win with ease but someone that thinks that Dublin will are of course, smoking something or having an epic dream.

I fail to see why their opinions are so far fetched.

Kerry v Mayo - what way did that go?

Kerry v Cork - Blessed and rather lucky to get over the line in fairness.

Kerry v Derry - again, rather lucky there too I think, Derry lost that game more than Kerry won it could be argued.

Kerry are very beatable I think. Clifford will have to bring his A game or they won't win. Dublin for me by 3 or 4 points - I think their bench will win it for them in the second half. If it's close with 15 to go, I very much doubt that Dublin will flounder like Derry, more like put more pressure on.

Either way, I hope it's the game we are all looking forward to. I hope the weather behaves also.

Dublin haven't beaten kerry in 4 years. D2 football and untested championship campaign leaves Dublin very vulnerable . Clifford and Geaney(always plays well against Dublin) could cause Dublin FB line trouble with the high ball. Kilkenny and Bugler(if fit) will need to start for Dublin. Con marked by the inform Jason Foley who is 33/1 for MOTM. Costello, Basquel, Bugler and P.Small need to step up when on pitch. They not young lads anymore.

Geaney and Moynihan usually play well against Dublin and Jack Barry always nullifies Fenton and Diarmuid O'Connor is the in form midfielder of the championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,603 ✭✭✭Gael85

Bar Con the lads back are past their prime. Con has no goals in his 9 championship/league games in Croke Park this year which must a first for him.

If kerry scored the penalty it would of been a hammering. The main issues last year in kerry game was set up of our defence, we were all over the shop in first half. Hopefully we have learned from that.

If you mean Jack Barry spends his time wrestlibg Fenton (and any other midfielder) I agree. As a footballer, not fit to lace Fenton's boots. Take a look at Murchan's goal.in 2019 - Barry grabs both Dublin midfielders alllowing David Moran to jump for the ball unopposed. For some inexplicable reason Moran palmed the ball to the Na Fianna speedster znd the rest is history

I hope David Gough is wise to Barry's shenanigans today.

Has David Gough not lived and worked in Dublin for a large number of years?
