But thats one small gig, this is 4 big ones.

Wait until people start bitching about the cost of hotels which is stupid when they are willing to pay that amount for a 2 hour concert.

And given experiences here, you did well - demand far outpaced supply for this gig - I’m glad my major gig going days are over - I’ve seen most of who I could see or wanted to see - I’ll let the younger generation take the strain now and spend my money on other things 😀

350 quid for two regular seated tickets? Mother of god. Few pints at the gig and food before and you're not shy of €500 for a night out.

Oh look I know - I’m actually flabbergasted that there was such demand with 4 gigs in place - maybe it’s a lack of legends left and people are just going coz “everyone else is going” or maybe this group resonate from people in their 60s down to 20s - I dunno but it’s highly unusual, and as a result, high prices and many disappointed fans

There were a few bands I’ve seen through the years where I never counted the cost- I was just so thrilled to be going- hotel, dinner, tickets, taxis- didn’t care. This gig wouldn’t be one of them- I was helping a friend get tickets and was successful- he’s delighted even with the high priced but very good seats I got him (he’s refunding me) - it’s not my cup of tea but I can see with demand that some people are just over the moon they’re going- we can complain here about prices and what not but at the end of the day, that’s the market and we have to live with it because it won’t change.

I take it Coldplay are quite popular considering this thread which is at the top of this forum for the last two weeks. Never got them myself, when they started rabbiting on about a concept album about algebra a good few year back they lost me completely.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I'd say row A will be a great view. The sound can be hit and miss at the back of Croker, bit everyone says Coldplay nailed it last time so I'd say you'll be just fine

Booking fee of €20 per ticket for the already over priced premium ticket is a bigger rip off.

Of all the hundreds of gigs I've gone to in the last 30 years or so, I have been mulling over how many of them I'd go to again at these prices. At €350 for two seated ticket, not very many I reckon. I just don't think the spend versus return on enjoyment for a couple of hours is up there at those prices.

Luckily for me it's not something I really have to live with as most of the bands I like play smaller venues like The Olympia and the Academy etc, so tickets are still in the €30-50 price range generally. I hope those types of venues don't start getting ideas...!

Money will come back, but you probably will never get to see a show quiet as good as the one Coldplay put on again.

😀 yeah I’m with ya on that- and as for the gigs I’d pay that money for? I think there’s probably about 4 in total over the last 35 years or so -so not many as you say

Highly subjectively speaking of course. I have seen lots of shows that IMO are a billion times better than 'Coldplay with flashing lights'. Each to their own though, we all like different things. I just feel bad in a way that folks are having to pay prices like this to see a band they like. Hope the night ends up being as good as the prices are demanding.

If you could transport me back in time to see Freddy Mercury at Live Aid or Led Zeppelin at Knebworth I might just break out the big cash... 😁

In relation to live aid I was going to say wait for Beasty to arrive but I see he already has - prepare to be green with envy 😂

    £5 plus a £20 "donation"

Fortunately had Coldplay sorted in the presale as I only got home from Galway at 3am, then found an email telling me Roger Waters had added a second date at the London Palladium, and tickets were on sale at 10. Tried Ticketmaster, the Palladium directly, Live Nation and VIP nation - had 4 browsers open and nothing was showing at all. Then like magic a single (non-premium) seat in row E appeared on Live Nation. That adds another day to my early October Britain roadtrip....

Last time they played I got 2 Upper Cusack tickets front row overlooking stage €100ish each. Same tickets this time almost €300 and marketed as some sort of premium ticket. No problem with premium or vip experiences that offer you something substantial extra but now it just seems a way of putting the price of a seat up to two or three times it’s price.

Roger was amazing in Dublin last time he played - I think it’s a continuation of that tour and if so you won’t be disappointed.

I also loved Nick Mason at the convention centre earlier this year (or was it last year, my memory is going me thinks) - if you can catch him it’s entirely different experience to Waters but still great musicianship

Was at 10k in the queue for the Sunday night so with a capacity of over 80k and maybe 10k sold on presale for that night I was feeling maybe luck was on my side.

    Nothing.

I don't know of to many that got tickets today but anyone I know we're in queues of numbers from 40k down so you would have thought you'd get a fair enough chance.

The chances of tickets becoming available on ticketmaster over the next few months have to be low?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,243 ✭✭✭Mike3549

some people go to gigs once in 2-3years and Coldplay could be once in a lifetime event for them. Don't see what's the big deal if they're ready to spend €300+ per ticket. Others go to 5+ per year or even go to all the bands gigs across the continent, its their money, their choice.

I got into the “shop” after notices said sold out and I got 2 premium tickets for a friend about 25 mins later but just constantly looking for tickets- I don’t see any harm in going in randomly whilst say watching TV and just continually looking - something might come up - I find it hard to see how so many tickets sold so quickly for this particular gig considering over 4 nights - I’d say people over bought and will eventually resell back into ticketmaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭Craftylee

Makes you think with demand so high, if any tickets become available for sale Ticketmaster will just categorize them as 'Platinum' and flog them for €300 a piece

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,378 ✭✭✭SAMTALK

I got 2 of the premium on the presale for someone else, and whilst they are expensive they have been wanting to see them for a long time and decided it was worth it as it will be a once off concert for them. Some people pay big money for handbags, golf clubs etc so really it's each to his own

Queen at Knebworth in '86 (Freddie's last show with the band) cost me £12 AFAIR!

Yea I tired that to for awhile but only so long you can do that if you've the time.

When you look at Coldplay fan pages on social media it's mad to see the demand there was from over sea. Europe and Asia but I just feel the majority of tickets were sold Tuesday.

Anyone travelling from abroad I wish them well trying to get hotel accommodation that weekend 😵

Have a feeling hotels we'll outside of Dublin will do well also.
