Hot water tank is boiling over. Scolding hot showers.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a direct hot water cylinder setup that's connected to a hot water tank above. I don't have a boiler and rely on the immersion for heating. My storage tank will heat up on off-peak hours for me to use in the day. I don't have central heating, the cylinder is solely for the shower…

Actually, reading back through this thread again and thinking about it a bit more, I think you better get another competent plumber out to have a look at everything and make sure everything is ok.

And leave the white in place. Tighten all joints making sure that all strands of the wire go into the screw-terminal.

As mentioned above. All work carried out by that plumber needs to be checked by someone qualified to do so. Both plumbing and electrics.
