Any Ford Fiesta Durashift experts out there ?

    Hi folks,


    Mother in law has a 1.4 2006 - durashift EST box. I hate it. Anyway, transmission error message since last week. Car starts. But cannot engage gear. I know one issue with this particular model is actuator-related and in many cases, the car will not start because in effect it is stuck in the wrong gear. I disassembled the actuator assembly last week - very east to remove and tear down - to find that all mechanisms work I believe as they should. Both motors work (12v applied directly to test) and the ball & socket mechanisms which the motors control both move freely. A generic OBD tool shows the following:

    U0121

    C1222

    P1000

    U2200


    There is also an ABS error which I suspect could be related; perhaps a wiring corrosion issue ? All fuses checked and good. Earth from battery also an apparent known issue on this car but looks fine.

    Battery was poor so swapped it out as a first measure just to rule it out but no joy on the underlying issue. Any suggestions, insights, or recommendations for a good mechanic, ideally Dublin West area, greatly appreciated.

    None of those codes relate to the transmission. U0121 and C1222 are abs related. Probably a speed sensor.

    P1000 is an ecu fault and U2200 is a instrument cluster fault.

    By any chance did you leave a block connector off when you were removing the clutch actuator and refitting it?

    ABS faults wont stop it from starting but the ecu one will.Could be anything really.

    Red Cow gearboxes is where I used to send these semi auto cars to. The lads there know them fairly well. Might be worth a call to them.

    Cheers HR, no, both oval block connectors (1 to each of the actuators) were disconnected right back to the TCM. I then pinned out every wire on a multimeter and all were sound. I was hopeful that it might have been a wiring issue in that area. Aware of the OBD codes alright. I thought a few might have been attributed to a dead battery as you know, batteries can cause untold weird issues, but clearing them and rescanning, they returned. I did work on my old mans focus back in the day and I recall everything went through the cluster. Reflowing dry solder joints on his focus did fix limping and random dash issues but I've not read anything about this issue carrying over to the fiesta.

    I might just bite the bullet and take your advise for the lads over in Red Cow. The weather here at present wouldn't inspire you to work on anything outside of a garage.

    Very interesting indeed. I have crank and run, but for sure, I suspect a wiring issue somewhere. Just so hard to diagnose.
