It does seem to be a newish strategy or tactic among adults in public life

I mean toddlers have been putting their fingers in their ears and screaming blue murder if things don't go their way since there have been toddlers...

I reckon adults are at it now because it's a viable strategy in the somewhat infantilised world of today....the tactic would just wear you down and in the absence of much consequence and perhaps salvaging a nil all draw or even a win when you've made a boo boo....why wouldn't you?

Society is fragmented, polarised filled with factions....brazen it out, plead ignorance, pretend to be contrite, throw a tantrum like an infant...all on the table.

When is the last time you saw anyone genuinely in the wrong come out with their hands up, admit blame, take responsibility , apologise unequivocally and offer to take a fair punishment/make meaningful reparations etc?

Renault were doing 1 year sponsorship deals with the LLS, and were renegotiating the 2023/4 season in May 2023. I would be shocked if they want anything to do with RTE after these past few weeks. Their name has been front and centre of this whole fiasco. How will they find a sponsor for the new season, it would want to be severely discounted for any business to want to associate themselves with it now. And if RTE were stupid enough to put RT back on air, no business would want to sponsor his slot. He needs to go silent for a few years to hope to have any sort of chance at a career on radio or TV in Ireland.

At some point in the negotiations, when he knew his spiel on TV was at odds with reality if the deal came through, he made a choice to let NK lobby for the extra money via this circular route and it has cost him dearly. Actions have consequences people!

Don't lie. You were obviously trying to doxx him.

Well aside from your gross misrepresentation of what I actually said, I have severe sleep apnea (which had you read my posts closely today you'd already know this). I sleep about 4 hours a night - on a good night. I tend to pass the rest of the time reading or listening to music, or on boards where I often post between the hours of 2 and 6am.

I never said I "couldn't wait to get home" to watch the Oireachtas Committee. I said I would watch it when I got home. Your embellishment does you no favours. As it turned out I only watched the 40 or so mins (less with ad breaks) of the Virgin Media report on same. Seeing as you seem so interested in my posts, I did also point out this morning that I had yet to watch approx. 90+mins of yesterday's afternoon session.

I wasn't drinking at this event, I never do at work or work-related functions. I had a latte as I had already posted. I was wide awake. I watched 40mins or so of TV regarding a topic I've been talking about for over a decade.

I don't know why you think there's anything unusual about someone wanting to catch up on the commentary on the biggest national topic of discussion for the last 3 weeks when they were unable to watch a particular show, but there you go.

I hope that satisfies your curiosity now, your Honour?

Your post implies I'm some sort of weirdo for doing this. That would be one of the less #unkind things that have been said about me regarding my commentary over the years on the two people who appeared in front the Committee yesterday. Commentary of which I've been proven to have been frighteningly accurate about and proven correct on most if not all of my assertions, despite all of the abuse I took for saying same. If you're trying to intimidate me or ridicule me, you'll have to try a lot harder.

Renault have got loads of free advertising, they have done nothing wrong and everyone is talking about them

It hasn’t cost them a penny for the additional advertisement, I’m sure Tesla would love similar exposure or any car brand

How are you getting roped into explaining yourself?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 483 ✭✭Will_I_Amnt

Moya Doherty and Breda O’Keefe have declined to come and Jim Jennings is apparently still sick

Kevin Bakhurst and Richard collins will be present. Also invited are Noel Curran, Siún Ní Raghallaigh, Geraldine O’Leary, Paula Mullooly and Declan McBennett. I'd say all of those will appear with the exception of Geraldine O’Leary

Once again, for the umpteenth time in as many decades the Taxpayer has been absolutely fleeced and the culprits have all retired or are refusing to take part in any further committees. A puppet has taken over with promises of transformation to smooth things over for his old old friends.

The waters are very muddy. He said she said - difficult to prove.

Onto the next scandal I guess - happening somewhere as we speak.

So basically those who were most responsible for this fiasco, Forbes, GOL and BOK are not going to show up.

Whew! Well fair play to you, you certainly can give a comprehensive answer when you want to. I don't know where you're getting the " weirdo " implications from. BTW. Best of luck to you anyway.

You said in your previous post:

"That's good. I was just curious about what makes a guy who couldn't wait to get home from a function to binge watch a recording of Tubs and Kelly before an Oireachtas Committee tick thats all. I mean variety makes the world go round and if that's what floats your boat then great!"

If you weren't as you're now claiming trying to imply I or my behaviour wasn't weird, what exactly were you trying to imply in your post then, particularly the parts in bold? Are you willing to be as forthcoming in your replies seeing as you demand so much of others?

It's obvious from other posters replies and comments on this that I'm not the only person who found your posts to me rather....shall we say.....#peculiar.

    That's very good.

As an aside, Tubridy briefly forgot where he was imo, when she was questioning him, and tried to shout her down, as he was so used to doing all his working life, albeit with a grin pasted on.

It was interesting to see how much the mask slipped from time to time - I didn't get to watch it all - just going by the clips I saw.

Don't forget Doherty, this mess all happened on her watch.

Okay then. I'll buy that. I see it on the dailymail bioards quite a lot. A post will praise Meghan and Harry in an over the top fashion and get 645 downvotes but most on the posters dont see the joke or rush to judgement and downvote.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,665 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

First of all I wouldn't read too much into "other posters replies", one particular one line poster seems intent on getting in your good books for whatever reason.. when I wondered why you stayed up late watching oriechtas report I wasn't aware that you spend half the night awake anyway. That's it, nothing sinister involved, no implications, and as I said way back, relax.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,975 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

I love how "one line poster" is supposed to be an insult lol. Some people really do spend far too much time on here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭backwards_man

I disagree they have done nothing wrong. They effectively agreed to go along with a cost neurtral (to themselves) deal which they knew was in order to facilitate payments to RT upfront for aomething RT was not going to deliver outside of year 1. They knew they were not paying anything extra for RT to do the roadshows. They knew RTE was paying the cash, because they gusranteed it in the contract for services. They knew they were being issued a credit note for the payment, they knew the invoices were not being sent to them for payment. They may not have done anything illegal, but they colluded in the affair and the optics of that from a reputation point of view is bad.

So, you ignore the substantive part of my post and avoid answering the question I politely asked you, after I replied to your posts.

You’re now trying to deflect, so I’ll ask again.
