Man he's one of the oddest Dublin fans. Obsessed with playing down Dublin's chances. Dublin should always be red hot favourites to beat mayo.

Gorm starting to make Kerry hoores of the 00's look like angels.

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!

Exactly, I think some people here want a format where the favorite never loses a game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭DRedSky

    That’s a bit harsh.

I’m a Dublin fan and was at many a game (not today’s) against mayo and never had any issues with them.

There are good and bad with every team. Very unfair to single out Mayo.

I expected Dublin,Armagh,Kerry and Derry to win the four Quarter finals. Poor by Armagh not make good use of the rest advantage. 3 games in 14 games took it's toll on Mayo,Tyrone and Cork this weekend and type of schedule that HQ will need to change next year if they want to avoid mis-matches next year. Hard to see past a Kerry v Dublin final now.

think a bit of history is in the making with the same 4 counties contesting the Minor and Senior All Ireland Championships this year

    only its in reverse order

Also RTE/GAAGO slicing the matches up between themselves didnt help peoples viewing. yesterday was a sh1tshow trying to log onto the Kerry match but no problems with the second match.

Do you think Mayo, Cork and Tyrone would have won otherwise ?

Sounds like a bit of an excuse for a team in transition, a team doing well to get this far and a team over hyped.

You are still obsessed with meself and the Dubs . I should be flattered! Is it meself or the Dubs ya love more? I go to matches give my honest opinions. For instance said Kerry would beat Dublin two years ago. Got lambasted on the Dublin thread.

You on the other hand follow Dublin in spite. Bitter if the Dubs win, delighted if they lose. An unusual way to get GAA ‘enjoyment’.

Dessie got his selection spot on today. He has made a lot of errors in the past. But benching most of the older heads was shrewd crucial in the crunch part of game.

Mayo’s heads went for 10 minutes second half - sloppy second goal conceded plus missed easy goal chance. A tale of two Mayo’s - weak mentally I think. No second wind. 3 points in the second half pathetic. Dublin backline susceptible to high simple ball. Not done enough from Mayo point of view.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

But it's not singling out Mayo? I'm acknowledging that everyone used to like and enjoy and root for them 15 years ago. Now, a significant portion of the GAA fanbase absolutely despise them. When nobody did previously? Why is that? The common theme is their fans being insufferable dicks

Ad it has nothing to do with success (or lack of it). Kerry are the most successful county in Ireland yet they're generally liked

Poor by Armagh not make good use of the rest advantage.

And failing to confirm your thesis? I mean it's not an iron law...Arguably Armagh should have played more on the front foot but it was always likely to end up close...

    Stop speaking for other people.

Or talking sht in the name of other people.

2014 had the same 4 pairings in both IIRC.

    Kerry v Mayo

    Dublin v Donegal

Though going back to the mid 80s there hasn't been the same 4 outside of that.

    Interesting.

Yes I hope he stays on charge of Mayo for years to come

And I'm not from Mayo btw

Just back from the games now...Went with more hope than expectations. Conceding the goal to Deryy seconds after scoring ourselves was a killer...positives though from this season for the rebels...as for the other game Dublin were much the better team...have to say though tge Mayo supporters are really incredible.. they get let down by Mayo teams year after year and they still support them in droves...don't think any other set of fans would give their county that kind of support if their team constantly leaves them down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,347 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Agreed Mayo fans either have great patience or are terrified of missing out on ‘that year’. Mayo fans easily no1.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The people who went to the games might rather a bit of excitement tonight on the Sunday Game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,961 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

    It’s the latter!

The session if they ever win one will be legendary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,347 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I do feel sorry for the Mayo fans though. Saw some fella with a well worn well faded Mayo hat, and thought ‘ya poor fecker. ‘

But Mayo fans don’t seem to get too annoyed about things unless Galway are involved.

If a Dublin team put in a performance like Mayo did today I’d be sickened.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Not in Cork. Kerry fans are insufferable with their feeling of a divine right to win All Ireland. Did you hear MOM yesterday? "We're expected to win every year" Most enjoyable day ever was In Cork shouting "Lock the gates and make them watch it" when, for once, Cork won well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Luxembourgo

Honestly the Mayo team have never ever let them down, and all bar maybe 3 counties would kill for their last 10 years

Easier be liked when you're not a continuous serious threat to the big boys like Mayo were 15 years ago.

I wouldn't say Kerry are well liked either. They don't travel as much as other supporters so you don't get the same exposure. However, they can often come across as entitled and condescending with all their yarrahing.

What I'm trying to say is that every country has their pricks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,019 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

The threat thing doesn't wash. Donegal were as big a threat as Mayo over the 15 years. Actually won an all Ireland, beat Dublin in their prime. While people hated McGuiness and his style, did anyone actually dislike Donegal fans bar a few tribal Ulster rivalries. By an large the were liked

Mayo have gone from being the most liked county in Ireland by neutrals to being viciously disliked by a significant minority. That makes no sense because they've had heartbreaking loss after heartbreaking loss, so by rights that want for them to get over the line shouldve grown. Every fanbase has muppets. It's the fact that Mayo seem to have much more than most that's turned so many off them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,090 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Ah come on they have...any other team with that quality over the years would have delivered an All Ireland...think they are mentally fragile

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,037 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Big win for Dublin today. First half not at their best but looked to have some of the old swagger and confidence back when dismantling a poor Mayo in the second half. I think they will have far too much for Monaghan and another All Ireland final to look forward to in the capital.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,037 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

The only surprise for me this weekend was Armagh not beating Monaghan. The other three group winners won comfortably. As usual with this Armagh team under McGeeney they clutched defeat from the jaws of victory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36 030802

You're a muppet, but that doesn't mean all dublin/galway/wherevet fans are muppets. On the contrary, the vast, vast majority are sound.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,057 ✭✭✭WesternZulu

Donegal were good the year before, the year of, and the year after their All-Ireland win. They haven't done much after in the AI series.

Anyway, you don't like Mayo supporters and that's fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭DRedSky

Bookies have Kerry 6/5 and Dubs 6/5.

When you factor in that Kerry have to get past Derry then that indicates the bookies fancy Kerry if both semi finals were to go with the favourites.

Because, without wanting to be disrespectful to Monaghan, I’d say most sides would prefer to be playing Monaghan than Derry.

I hope Dublin do it but if you offered me a free bet I’d put my money on Kerry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,019 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

They hammered Dublin 2 years after their All Ireland win and they won a heap of Ulsters. I'd hazard a wild guess they'd take their lot over Mayo's

To be filed under imaginary things that never happened.

But at least you had the creativity to come up with such a scenario to feel good about yourself so go you!!!!

    Big round of applause.
