You really would wonder what's going through these members heads right now, where all their arse covering is doing little but making them look increasingly inept. No sense of pride whatsoever.

Just shows - there needs to be 10 Imelda Munsters and Brendan Griffins.

The questions are on a fooking plate.

Griffin has exposed them here. It's so patently obvious that booting Dee Forbes was a cover up for self preservation.

The format should be a selected small panel grills them and then the PAC reviews between themselves.

It would do your fantasies of seeing Kelly getting dragged through the coals a great service, more like.

Any right thinking person would agree that neither Kelly nor Tubridy did anything wrong. Kelly’s job was to get the best deal possible for his client, particularly in such a turbulent field. As for Tubridy, if some sucker in RTE is going to give you extra money for nothing you’re not going to turn it down. End of.

The fault lies with the dopes in RTE who signed off on ludicrous contract agreements for their top earners and who have a habit of pissing money away.

I’m a big fan of public service broadcasting but it is obvious that there is an institutionalised culture of waste in RTE where considerations such as managing finances and budgets are ignored in favour of treating the populace as a big ATM machine.

They need to (figuratively) decapitate the board, and start over. Never mind all this talk of Dáil committees and public floggings, focus getting rid of all the rot and deadwood. Salary caps, funding via general taxation instead of the TV licence, the whole shebang.

All that being said, Tubridy hasn’t done anything wrong.

Feck sake wish these ones would stop making personal statements and stick to questions

    Q1 - Boom

    Q2 - Boom

Boom boom boom keep knocking them out!

If Brendan Griffin knocked on my door looking for my vote, he'd get it. I'd be too afraid not to!

Even I'm flustered by Griffin's questioning lol

I hope Michael McNamara is getting a slot to question.

The RTE CFO has an utterly vile demeanour.

She’s more than letting herself down. At best, when she was asked why they’d let Dee resign, she was evasive and left the committee it’s the feeling that Dee had got that ball rolling.

moreover, I’d say she knew fine well that getting her to resign would ensure she didn’t appear today or tomorrow. Bloody deliberate obfuscation

    lol - fantasies :-)

    i think you're protesting too much... ;-)

Where did i say NK management did anything wrong? Tubs could have/should have corrected his salary but thats small beer IMO.

I'm suggesting that KN Management can clarify what happened, given the other person who apparently knows it all is indisposed.

If they agree, then we can all be happy to find out what really happened.

If they don't agree, then it can be taken that there are reasons why they're not agreeing and inferences drawn from that into the future.

Try to read what's being said here instead of jumping up and down.

“She sought her resignation, it wasn’t accepted so we entered disciplinary process”

How do her dates add up as per Brendan’s questioning?

Adrian Lynch does a good passive agressive rhetorical "yeah".

RTE must not be counting people who work there permanently, I refer to people like Dermot Bannon or Hugh Wallace.

Remove the "legally" Tubridy did nothing wrong and ask yourself morally/ethically/optically what you think about Ryan and the affair?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,345 ✭✭✭limnam

He's fairly good I find. Sounds like he's about to offer one of them to the car park

If you were casting someone as a Soviet Prisoner of War extra in a WW2 epic - he'd be in with a shout.

So they sought Forbes resignation...they went into disciplinary process and she was suspended..

    They then accepted her resignation?!?

It’s obvious what happened: NK is a great agent so he negotiated a fantastic deal for his client, and the dopey wasteful culture in RTE meant some idiot signed off on it without considering the consequences/budget.

The thing is that the whos and the whens doesn’t matter, what does matter is that it is yet another example of the profligate culture in RTE that needs to end.

Resources should be focused on reforming RTE instead of these tabloidy wish fulfilment fantasies of Tubridy or NK sweating under the red hot lights of a Dail committee. That’s performative rubbish. It’s time for action.
