This is how slow ESB Networks are at doing grid upgrades... the chargers have been in what? over a year now? and still waiting for the upgrade to get the other 4 units online...

Sh1tshow. And now that AppleGreen & Circle K are in the game (and even eCars seem to be slightly improving), grid upgrades is going to be the big bottleneck for charger/hub rollout... It's probably no wonder Tesla have removed the previously announced sites from their map, as they probably just couldn't be ar$ed trying to put any more chargers into Ireland in any meaningful capacity... It takes too long, and it's just too much hassle, and the competition are finally getting their act together.. so fcuk it, that's their lot when it comes to SuC's..

Supercharger at Enfield , Johnstown House, it's been totally offline now for over a week or more....

    Anyone with any insight?

    Thanks.....

Is it actually not working, or just reported offline?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,914 ✭✭✭wassie

Not working. App also reports all stalls as being 'Out of order'. Tesla are aware but I have no further info as to what the issue is.

It's showing online in my app anyway. Is it still showing as offline for you?

Price at Superchargers is down a little again. To be welcomed..

    39c/kWh at a few I have checked.

Very good, will be great for our expected 7000 km on SuC in July/Aug. Tesco, every little helps.

As a new Model 3 owner I thought I was seeing things... This makes it cheaper for me to charge at my local Supercharger than it costs for me to charge at my home rate of 40c

    That’s awesome!!!

and mental as you are saving money already with it!!! (You’ve collected I assume?)

    Talk about justifying the purchase….

Also a sign on how much we consumers are fleeced on electricity prices. In Finland a typical 24h unit price is now less than 10c after the mad prices last year and over the winter. Before 2022 a typical rate was about 5c.

We just signed up with a provider in Lithuania for our house over there, and our 24 hour rate os €0.28/kWh (and thats fairly high as we got in late)

New service centre in cork not yet opened may get superchargers

Planning drawing had chargers along the kerb beside it which are half wired for destination chargers but there was 4 or 6 on other side of car park that will hopefully be superchargers. Mahon Point is a pain to get to during shopping hours and very busy

This is it I think, permission for 7 chargers at the front of the store. Images from plugshare show this area being fenced off so i imagine at least 6 chargers.

I see they have changed the more expensive times period. Now from 6pm to 10pm. €43c/kWh.

Yes they have but they also reduced the peak price from 45c so on balance not too bad

Just after leaving there myself, you beat me here to post this. Really hope it is an upgrade.

Had a long couple of days driving around the country yday via motorways - starting to get busy now during peak times at other charging stations with the summer holidays upon us.

Visited all SuCs sites except Tralee and must of saved a couple of hours (and stress) by being able to roll in and get a charge and not queue. The only wait I had was at the Service Centre at Sandyford and even then it was less than 10mins.

Only came across 1 noob trying to connect their new Leaf at Dundalk. Poor chap said he was given basically no clear advice after being handed the car, other than there were plenty of public charging stations around and he should have no bother!

Had a quick stop at Castlebellingham south on Saturday, it was the first time I've seen it close to load sharing (two Teslas on the same stall - e.g. 1A and 1B). But still much quicker than queueing for the lone ESB unit and the expensive AG own-brand one.

I've seen 5 at castlebellingham before.

I was there another day and a northern Irish lady pulled in to a charger that had a car charging on the other side (A was in use and she pulled into B on the same stall).

I spoke to her (actually apologised first and said I wasn't mansplaining 😂) and explained about the power sharing (apt for a Nordie 😂). She was delighted to find that out as she had previously done the same thing. She moved to another charger and hopped out and have me the thumbs up!!

Yeah I've had to explain the stall sharing etiquette a few times at some V2 sites (you can tell by the reg that the cars are very new) ,and everytime they were delighted with the info....

I also once pulled into Castlebellingham once when it was at 50% capacity with no stall sharing so asked 2 of the drivers that were still in their car what rate they were charging at and I stall shared with the one who was at a gig SoC and therefore lower charging rate..

I'm surprised Tesla don't implement a function whereby the car can advise which is the best stall(s) to use at V2 sites.... as in the car in 1A is at 75% and is charging at 40kW, and the car in 2A is only at 20% and charging at 170kW so it would be better to arrive and use 1B as opposed to 2B...

Give it time I nearly guarantee you it will become a feature, either that or the V2's will start getting replaced with V4's and power-sharing will become a thing of the past

In the mean time I apply public toilet cubicle logic, nobody ever takes the first cubicle so if you pull in to the second space (usually 1B?) everybody will go past you :)

Tesla have no idea if car A will pull away at 50% SOC so hard to predict, I only charge at a SuC to have 5% buffer to either home or next SuC, I could be leaving at 20% or less after a 3-5minute pitstop

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

they could predict it better if they used the data already in the car, i.e. Ready to continue trip in 5 mins etc... or if not navigating anywhere, then whatever the charge level % is set to, and how close the car is to it... or even just something as simple as charging speed... whichever stall is putting out the least amount of power, direct an incoming car to it's sister stall as its the one with the most power available..

Tesla would know for any cars that have entered a destination beyond the SuC into navigation. Admittedly Tesla wouldn't know when somebody would finish their Big Mac Meal even if the car was already charged enough.
