Seems my fear of what's to come is already being pre-empted:

Democratic US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries urged supporters and critics of Donald Trump to let his case "proceed peacefully in court" after he was indicted.

Let me be clear again - for the third time, for those who may want to find some phantom scapegoat to argue against - I'm not "defending" Trump here.

I'm merely speculating about what may happen in the future.

I'm merely speculating about what may happen in the future.

We're about to see a large uptick in rant videos of men with camo hats, manscaped beards and supervised weekend custody of their kids.

Why should today be any different?

But its largely irrelevant what camo gobshites say, any day.

30% of all voters will vote for Trump in any circumstances. 40% will vote for whoever is opposing him. The remaining 30% are in play. They're the ones who won it for Biden and foiled the mid-terms for the GOP.

The aim of any trial over the classified documents isn't to convict him, it's to show a systematic breakdown of his poor morals, lax attitude to the law, narcissism, hate as a policy etc etc.

It's right that a crime committed in Florida should be tried in Florida, even if its Federal law. Floridians are less likely to convict him, but as I say, that's not really the point. The point is to make him toxic to a solid 70% of voters, forever.

And that's all before another indictment in Georgia for election interference. And that's the most serious for him.

"it's to show a systematic breakdown of his poor morals, lax attitude to the law, narcissism, hate as a policy etc etc"

All this was known before he was elected.

Same people who supported him then still support him today, they are just waiting to blame Biden for any volience that might come out of this the same way they did after the raid to recover the documents.

Same way they defend putin, or pretend not to and keep saying the Ukraine should surrender.

My cousin who is a psychiatric nurse is expecting a large increase in rants from some of their patients.

There have been many times when I have thought Trump was finished from pussygate to impeachment to Jan16 etc. Yet I look at the bookies odds now and Trump is odds-on favourite to be the Republican candidate in the next election and is second favourite to be the next president. At this stage, I won't believe Trump is gone until he has worn an orange suit to match his hair for a few years

If Trump does get convicted, my guess is he would be put on house arrest to serve his sentence in Mar-a-Lago instead of being sent to federal prison.

Then when the next Republican that becomes president they will pardon him.

Does anyone else get the read that trump wanted his attorney to pick up on the fact he wanted them to simply destroy the classified documents while he was out at the equivalent of a beauty parlor appointment?

    and then the pool floods.

“If you want to get to President Trump, you're going to have to go through me and 75 million Americans just like me. And most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA. That's not a threat, that's a public service announcement,” Kari Lake

Some real serious mental health issues evident going by the comments and user names, which isn't surprising but then you also have c*nts who support him and to borrow a phrase from G.O.T, there is no cure for being a c*nt.

Look at how many turned up outside the court in New York. I would say there’ll be a crowd less than 2-300 outside the courthouse on Tuesday.

All the same, I’d say there’s a lot of overtime happening in the various intelligence agencies as they’ll have to take online threats like this seriously.

Speaking of, how can that not be deemed a threat?

Given the seriousness of the charges, perhaps he was better off shooting someone on 5th avenue

Sounds like a terrorist group or some regime in the Middle East.

New York and Florida are different places in terms of Trump support, There will be a much larger crowd in Miami.

It'll still be just a load of saddos with camo gear covering their beer bellies though.

Plus, the police and federal authorities will be out in Major force.

I'm a bit disappointed that there's nobody here defending this. Outside of some concern-trolling last night, there's nobody on here parroting some of the defences that I heard from the US.

You'd think that after all he did for them over the years that at least a few of his supporters would be willing to debase themselves online for him, for old time's sake.

Ah but they’re not supporters, they’re impartial unbiased observers

After all he did for them though? He lessened the stigma of being a dislikeable cnut for them. The fantasy world that he created for them gave them feelings that no other leader had managed in their lifetimes. He gave them false hope, undeserved confidence and he made them feel smart when people in the real world made fun of them. It's quite possible that they'll never feel like that again. I would have thought that they would be more thankful and actually show up for him.

Right now, it feels like they've abandoned him. It stinks of a lack of gratitude if you ask me.

He won't ever see the inside of a jail cell. He's his own reality distortion machine, one that actually works.

He'll turn the whole thing into a political circus, get fined, get a slap on the wrist and move on.

June 13th doesn't have quite the same ring to it as Jan 6th.

Either way, while there'll definitely be protests and possible trouble, I doubt we'll see anything too major. Jan 6th was very much planned for weeks and designed to interrupt or affect the counting of votes which could still help Trump retain the Presidency. The stakes here are much lower, many involved in Jan 6th have faced significant legal consequences (which could deter some from even attending next Tuesday), and there won't be a big Trump rally just before it as the pretence to gather so many people nearby.

I said few years ago that no Republican will hold the office of president again and I still believe that. Trump has nuked any remaining chance of that happening because he is the party now.

The Republicans have only won the popular vote once since 1988 to begin with

They're just waiting for something positive they can throw out to take the conversation down a different rabbithole. Such a shame some vague comment Trump made about the golf turning out to be right was a day or two early, that would have served as the perfect distraction for them now.

Have you seen the crimes committed in the indictment and the sentencing outline for each crime? They're federal crimes, fine me hole

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

If you could argue mishandling and even potentially sharing leaking selling or destroying classified documents, top secret information, special Compartmentalized information, down to a fine, you might as well start selling access to the Saudis for $1,000,000 per page up front and cut out the treason. The money will be changing hands either way from now on.

Ok, so let's get this clear.

If Trump is found guilty of any of these charges - and chances are it'll be all or none - then he's looking at serious jail time.

This isn't a civil case. There isn't a deal to be made. There isn't a mark to be bought off. This is a federal indictment on national security matters.

He either walks altogether, or it's a federal prison. Probably for the rest of his miserable life, which is about 8 to 10 years, given that he's an obese whale of a thing with a worse diet than Jabba the Hutt.

And so the conduct of the case by the prosecutors, the special counsel and the Department of Justice as well as by the Judge will be vital.

If Trump is convicted by a bunch of Floridian snow birds, on his own turf, because the case is made that they cannot but find him guilty, that ends him. For good.

And that'll be even before he gets to Georgia.
