I'm amazed at the almost 500 asylum seekers from Botswana, Africa's safest country and a well run country too with their own successful and well regulated open, legal migration policy coupled with a limited actual refugee policy.

Whatever about ‘blaming foreigners’ for anything, I am never going to be comfortable with people who rip up identity documents, lie about their origins and wilfully abuse what is after all, a humanitarian system for real people in need of protection. I would unapologetically be just as happy to see them gone, for good.

Still repeating this fallacy that people are “blaming foreigners” for the housing and health crises. It’s been repeated so many times on this thread - those crises are the fault of the government and of their creation.

But that doesn’t change the reality that adding tens of thousands of people to an already well over burdened system only makes things worse. Regardless of wherever they’re coming from.

With no end in sight of immigration-based population growth, how many houses? Where will all these new houses be? Does it really make sense to keep expanding the population like this and at this rate?

The aberration is not building enough houses (both private and social housing) for a growing population. Treating population growth itself as an aberration and unnatural and something that needs to be stamped out would be a quite bizarre approach for any government to take.

This is solely awful government policy, influenced by an unbalanced media.

Can't blame people for taking advantage of a situation to better their lives, we'd all do it.

However those saying we need more houses. While I agree this is a factor, no government could build houses fast enough to meet the demand coming, especially with our building regs.

The numbers are not small, they might be in a Dublin context, but more AS came last year than people live in Ashbourne. And that's excluding Ukrainians

Problem is we’ll never be able to build enough to keep up. The more we build the more will arrive into the country as they know our own courts have ruled they must be housed

If you destroyed your passport then you did something illegal.

We talked about sweeden and you magically had loads of sweedish friends in favour of mass immigration.

We talked about irish people struggling for accomadation and you lived near an apartment block where every irish person refused to live in a housing crisis.

We talked about passports and you happened to turn up in England the same day without being asked to present your passport.

You make a great case for not letting in these immigrants. They won’t integrate and their kids will lead to an increase in gang violence. Why would someone that rocks up claiming asylum be given a home in an expensive area anyway? Their kids should have applied themselves and improved their situation rather than getting into gangs and gun violence.

You expect the Irish government to handle this any better? This is the madness of the far left even more dangerous than the far right!

If the victim was a foreign national you would be here crying outrage and how terrible it is.

The victim is irish with a disability and your response is asking how they know the attackers nationality.

Maybe show some compassion for the kid like you preach for others to do for foreign nationals who are victims.

You can show compassion for everyone regardless of their nationality.
