I actually enjoyed his interview. Not a single contrived swear word, and came across far more sincere than other interviews where he’s lobbing in the F word every second sentence!!!

I think some of HFBs stuff is quite good. He has a decent body of work there. He's also great live. Seeing him in RHK would be pretty cool.

Can’t agree. His stage presence is horrendously drab.

Hard to believe it's 14 years since they played Slane, not that I was there or anything, but still...

i assume you are not referring to the interview with Michael Martin 🥸

Lots of medical conditions preclude the suffer from driving, as do some learning disorders which impact the ability to tell how close/far away they are from obstacles.

24 years after he was first offered it, would of been just 28 if he took it back in 99, could of been a very different show

I don't much like him for it but only because he's very much a has-been on these shores.

However I cannot wait to enjoy the woke sjw outrage over the next while because he is Male, white and culturally catholic

I've only one question and excuse my ignorance.. but who is this Patrick Kielty??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,964 ✭✭✭its_steve116

I would honestly have thought a show that isn't really watched outside Ireland would have been a step-down career wise for someone like Patrick Kielty, who's had a very successful career in the UK and US. But best of luck to him anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,642 ✭✭✭deezell

The LLS is unlikely to survive his tenure, which will probably be the shortest. There were better candidates, but the trick was to ask them to do it, not apply and risk rejection. Surely Brendan O'Connor, Baz, or Ciara Kelly would be more relatable.

Btw, the Irish Mirror this morning had a gushing article before the announcement that there were joint contenders now in the ring, it hotly tipped the new LLS co presenters to be.... Vague and the noise beside her. Yikes!

None of your options are a better choice though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,889 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

Everyone you have mentioned there are worse options than Kielty.

This, to me, seems like a rare good appointment by RTE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,562 ✭✭✭Azatadine

What??? Ciara Kelly???? Have you gone mad?? Only person who could be worse than her is that bore of a Coleman who wants to ban everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,429 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Ciara Kelly would be more relatable??

To whom, any **** in a 'I Love Thatcher' T-shirt?!

Kielty will be a vast vast improvement on the current host....good luck to Patrick Kielty...

As for Tubridy....dont let the door hit you on the way out.....

We'll see. As #Furze99 asked, "who is he?". Nice guy, and an interesting guest on the LLS for 15 minutes, but the LLS is a peculiary Irish institution, it doesn't travel, it's host needs to be relevant to the day to day goings on of Irish art, media and politics. All three suggested hosts tick that box, whether you like or hate them, and are clued in to our daily lives. Count your blessings. You nearly had Vogue and her echo.

I don't think that Ryan actually ticked many (if any!) of those boxes. 😁

    And here is your host,

I think the fact Patrick fell off the radar the last few years probably concentrating on marriage and family so it's like an unknown newbie getting the job is interesting

I would have put him younger than Tubs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,889 ✭✭✭Brock Turnpike

It'll be really something to see Kielty show up Tubs for the lack of effort and research he put into pretty much every guest on his show. Hopefully this appointment will breathe some life into the show, take the focus off misery, and cut down on the repeat guests.

Outstanding research....really outlines the sheer pointlessness to the LLS under Tubridy....just a vehicle for Vogue Williams, Amy Huberman et al to promote themselves....shocking stuff....

    Thank you Mr. Turnpike

Great work Brok! Honestly, if you were serious about your career and saw your analysis of guests, you’d run a mile. I live in hope that PK can remedy this and provide something better than a stream of Z-Listers and attention seekers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,642 ✭✭✭deezell

The second PK on the LLS. He's officially PK2.

The first guest on the PK2 show will be Tubridy, telling us all he has terminal cancer and only 6 months left to live!!
