My car failed it NCT last week as a result of serious corrosion in the sub frame ,I wasn't allowed to leave centre with car

Since then i have researched this defect and find it is a global problem affecting mercedes - rust begins inside and works it way out

I have contacted Mercedes benz -while not accepting liability - they have referred me to a main dealer and if they agree findings will potentially finance the work
however the main dealer doesn't want to know and in reality car could be off road for months
Has anyone any experience of going down legal avenue ? or any other strategy
