It's not an issue, trump is a narcissist who's easily swayed by people pretending to like him, in the unlikely event he somehow becomes useful, people will pretend again.

My god, what a bad take.

Imagine being a journalist and not understanding what Trump is.

Calling the indo a broadsheet is pushing it. It is by size, but tabloid by nature

I'm quite sure that taxpayer money might be better spent on things like the housing crisis, rather than laying on a royal welcome for someone that's pretty much the worst that the human race has to offer.

New filing drawing the court's attention to trump's posts on Truth Social...

Niamh Horan is a fvcking troll, she aims for clicks and eyeballs nothing more. She's such a sh1t journalist she wouldn't know actual research or investigation of a story if it hit her in the face so the only way she can achieve her goal is by always writing to the lowest common denominator. She doesn't believe a word she writes, everything is about the paycheck and getting as many people as possible to say her name on every type of media possible.

...in between rating the female jurors out of 10.

I think the jurors are in a separate room for their own safety.

So we have someone on this thread posting below:

Carrol's lawyer is lesbian so saying that she isnt his type, its a bit crude but its technically accurate.

I didnt say that, I was being polite, have you seen the woman in question, she is quite mannish looking.

    She isnt Donalds type.

This is about if the former president of the US and, as you say, the presumptive GOP nominee and how likely he is to sexually assault her... it is saying "Nah, it's OK. He won't sexually assault her. She's safe"

    And this:

Ahh yes the Trump hating Biden loving posters on here twisting words again! On the subject of Women A quick question to you Can you please define what a woman is?

Democrats seem to have a problem defining what a woman is

Saying "How can it be assault when you lot don't even know how to classify what a woman is?"

    How about, these are PEOPLE!!!!????

They are not even attempting to suggest that they believe he didn't do it..... Now they are giving EXCUSES!

How would they feel if these sexual assaults happened to someone they knew? "Whoa, I always thought my friend/relative was hot. Now I know: She must be hot, trump assaulted her!". They need to have a reread of what they wrote. ANYONE who thinks it acceptable to assault someone because people have differing opinions on gender... Anyone who thinks that sexual assault isn't about power but is about how "good looking" someone is how "Their type" someone is... Well, they need to have a good look at themselves and they are certainly not worth my time so I will not interact with them again. Let them think they have pwned another libtard. I will know why I have chosen to ignore people with that moral compass.

TiFG really likes to roll that word 'rape' over his heavily made-up lips. And he attacks the lawyer getting his deposition while at it. Plus he yatters on about 'not his type' as if that's some kind of defense.

    The man is not well.

So its closing arguments today, will the judge give the jury directions today and send them off this evening to deliberate or will we be waiting till tomorrow?

I think the plan was that the Jury would begin deliberations tomorrow morning.

I think the closing arguments will take a big chunk of today - I saw something about Carrolls team having 90 minutes and Trumps team having 2 hours for their closing. And that's not including any of the usual delays and side-bars and other discussions

Throw in the Judge taking at least an hour to give their instructions that covers pretty much the whole day.

I did Jury duty last summer and I'd say we were actually sitting in the Court room for 3-4hrs each day t the absolute most with all the breaks and Judge/Lawyer only discussions that went on.

    Closing arguments were today.

Naturally the prosecutor picked up on what we all saw and heard, "unfortunately or fortunately"

One of the funniest Trumpism’s I have ever seen is in that deposition video where he says Carroll is not his type yet mistakes her with his ex wife in a photograph 🤣

The fact that he thinks "She's not my type" is an actual defence for Rape is the worst part , it's tied directly to the " if you're famous they let you" part of the ""Pu$$y" tape.

He truly believes that he can have what he wants, when he wants it because he's rich and famous.

He's a disgusting pig, simple as that.

Hiding the latest hair transplant incisions??

More importantly , the Jury start deliberations this morning in the E Jean Carroll case.

I wonder how long they'll take to come to a decision?

I'd have thought it should be relatively quick one way or the other - Either they believe Carroll or they don't is really the only decision to make.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,997 ✭✭✭✭Water John

Is it a majority decision or unanomous that is required? That will alter the timeframe.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 17,618 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

For Civil cases it's a majority decision , but it has to be 5/6ths in agreement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,054 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

I actually believe that the reason for this mistake was he would not put on reading glasses, as he is too vain.

Given the choice between making such a catastrophic admission or "looking weak", oul Donny would happily go with the latter and leave it up to someone else to try and fix it (i.e. his lawyer).

So 7 of the 9 jurors would secure a case against Trump.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 17,618 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Vanity, Arrogance and Hubris (along with genuine stupidity) have always been his undoing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,393 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

He hasn't been undone yet though that's the thing. He's been through cronyism, trials, charges, an insurrection - if anything his arrogance and vanity got him the presidency and this far. It's possible he'll win another.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,997 ✭✭✭✭Water John

The man's guilty of treason, but it would have a special resonance to have his undoing come at the hands of a woman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,054 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

I heard today it has to be unanimous, on the balance of probability being the level

I'm sure we will find out soon once the Judge gives the jury instructions.

It is so hard to say whether he will be found liable or not. based on what I have read from the in-court reporting I would say he should be found liable. Tacopina certainly didn't do a great job afaik. What I find weird is that there did not seem to be as much of a push on whether he defamed her but more on the whole he didn't actually do it. Is there maybe an acceptance that they (his counsel) know that he defamed her and is banged to rights and the only thing they could go after is the battery part by saying it never happened?

I think I am right in saying he can be found liable for defamation and not battery.
