It's general Sex Sells work really. Minus the sticky physical contact of whoring. That's the cut off I suppose. The lines between "porn" and "erotic" have always been murky. In the west anyway. And as you note a fair few if not the vast majority of Hollywood actresses and actors are chosen because they look good are "sex symbols" and many have gotten their kit off. The dollybirds primped and photoshopped to death on instagram are not there because of their intellectual comments and the twitch lassies playing games are unlikely to be difficult to look at. Sex sells. It always has, it's just the degree to where society decides to draw the lines.

A Venus by Titian. Would barely raise an eyebrow today. Though when painted i would have been a very private picture. Originally IIRC a courtesan of a rich bloke Titian was trying to get more money out of. You can be sure no bloke looking at that in a private viewing would have been drawn to the doggie on the bed. But it became art and relatively respectable. Though I think this was the painting that Mark Twain joked was so risque the only suitable place for it was a public art gallery.

We draw lines all the time and same for this onlyfans stuff. That a woman(mostly) would end up earning a years wages for many in a month just revs up the ire and attention. This financal end of it has some history too all the way back to classical times.
