Single Farm Payments - Greening

Hi all, was submitting my single farm payment application this year to see the amount being paid is down substantially as the "greening" payment seems to have been removed, just wondering if this is the same for everyone? or do I need to look into it futher?

The SFP/BPS is no longer applicable, it is now broken up into three parts - BISS, ECO and CRISS.

You will probably loss out I am losing over €1500 a year. Crazy system favours small farms which are more likely to be part time farmers over larger farms which are more likely to be full time farmers. As a full time farmer I am annoyed another nail in coffin of farming. The below will show hoe you fare out.

Lads with decent payments had them for the last twenty years. If in that time they failed to use them to develop there system then its just too bad. I have a slightly above average payment per HA and I reckon it cost me than it was worth over the years as too many lads used it as a subsidy to produce cattle not making money.

When it was put in place originally it discriminated against lads with heifers or cull cow, it aldo was totally unfair in many farmers in the west of Ireland where who were selling weanlings.

I got my entitlements from the National Reserve in the last round of CAP and they are being cut in this round that makes no sense. Stocked to the max for my farm type.

It's not the entitlement's that are being cut I imagine ( they are at the national average) but the top up. Like any other system the department do not want a sudden cut-off.

Maybe you should not be stocked to the max. Have you totally coated your system. I dropped off a few bales to a lad today that was caught for them( I will never get them back) he asked me what they cost and was shocked when I said 42.5/bale. I went through my costings with him.

Contractor cut, rake, bale, wrap was 14/ bale.

Plastic 4.25 bale

Fertilizer 19/ bale

Bringing them in 1.50/ bale.

Haulage to him 4/ bale.

Now he will probably pay cash but I was not really interested in selling them. I would have preferred if he elsewhere but he was caught for them even though he is only stocked at a lowe rate than me.

Profitability is not about stocking rates. The farm payment should be cream on top of your system.

The department ran a few live Webinars a few weeks ago which were recorded and they said that they would be available to watch/listen back to on the website. They are also holding clinics & public meetings in different locations across the country in the next week or two, I plan on submitting my application at one of those clinics. I did the same about 10 years ago & have been submitting the applications myself since.

No not the top up, are the old entitlments I got were national average. That average inc greening element. A New Entiitlment is BISS, ECo requirment and Criss. The Criss is weighted towards the first 30 ha so my entitlments over 30ha are worth 15% less than were.

Not mad stocked at all and in every scheme and yes, I think but need to work on efficineces, but they cost money . All a fools game. Agree 100 per cent your figures. In fact you were not giving a land charge so those bales actually costing you €50.

Birdnuts I know were you are heading but either they wanting farming or not I am Organic, 25% of farm is space for nature etc etc and economics not add up. Future is large farms that operate without no Gov support, wildnerness reserves with minimul farming and odd farm in between.

I'm down over 3k from the removal of greening, very hard hit its nearly 35% and not sure where to apply for the other schemes

Folks - Is there any reason why my 'entitlement position' on the agfood portal only shows BISS and doesn't show CRISS? I've partially gone through my BISS/CRISS application and I do meet the enhanced Space for Nature threshold easily enough.

I'd say get on to your advisor about it. I normally do the applications myself but seen as its a new system I went through it with the advisor. I'm glad I did, being able to claim scrub land was not something I had considered and could have completely missed it if I was doing it myself.

Thanks. We've never had an advisor, but we're close to sorting one out in the next few days.

Hope ta hell it doesn't mean that we miss out on CRISS for some reason

If you have no changes all you need are the login details for Agfood, we brought the paperwork that came from the Dept this year but it was needed at all.

No need for an advisor unless you have major changes to make I would imagine.

Most people's situation is slightly different if they have scrub to claim on. Be a shame to miss out on extra possible entitlements.
