We all know Bayern find a way to win it

Probably have to sacrifice a child to the gods. Otherwise buy from a tout unfortunately. Neither of the Freiburg fans I know managed to get a ticket last year. Think it was a lottery system from both clubs for members and a separate one for neutral tickets, so you'd have to keep an eye out for the lottery and register interest.

Fortuna Düsseldorf are presenting a new strategy tomorrow named "Fortuna For All". The big talking point from it are plans to offer free entry to the stadium for fans. RP say it will likely start with 3 games next season in the pilot phase but the goal is for it to eventually be extended to all 17 home games in 2024/25.

According to the article sportbild just put out the club have already signed 5 year deals with multiple new sponsors who want to be involved in this new initiative, so it seems this will definitely be happening. Pretty much guarantees they'll have 55k in the stadium for every game.

I don't think other clubs will be happy about this but I hope it's a success and it forces the others to follow suit.

Sounds a great idea, if they get the money lost from some other source, but they still have the issue of who gets the tickets.

What happens if 75,000 want tickets?

I assume club members (27k) get first dibs and then the rest are first come first served or some lottery system. Might find out more about that tomorrow when the plan is unveiled.

It seems they budgeted for €7m in ticket revenue this season (€412k per game) but it'll be closer to €8m as they've sold more than expected. Their average attendance has been 29,500 so far.

Interested to see how they balance the books. It sounds like there are lots of businesses wanting to get involved in the initiative and matchday revenue (ticketing aside) would increase with 54k in the stadium for every game buying food/drink/merchandise. There would be room to grow club membership through new fans wanting a ticket guarantee as well. Probably lots of other areas for growth I can't think of.

They brought Hoeness in for training this week apparently, so that when they beat (bottom of the table) Hertha Berlin, he can get the credit!!

Dortmund fcuk it up again. That was their chance

At least they’ve done the decent thing and avoided prolonging the inevitable.

Hard to know where they go from here if they finish second. Stay in limbo, half a level below Bayern, and get knocked out in last 16 in Europe every year?

Or do they gamble and really invest?

It won’t matter. Bayern won’t be quite this bad again for a while imo.

How do the finances of the two teams actually compare?

A big problem since Klopp left though I've noticed, is they've tried to build teams on that attacking style of play, and sort of push that style as the clubs philosophy.

They don't have the players to do it, and the recurring problem is they are often simply too blunt to open teams up, as they lack the quality. Then often caught on the break.

Someone like Mourinho could be good for them, make them stronger at the back and hard to beat, because they're going around in circles for the last ten years, looking promising but ultimately not good enough

Just seeing the footage, Dortmund should have had a clear pen imo.

Just saw that back on "Ref Watch" on Sky.

The most obvious penalty of the weekend, and not awarded.

@CSF said "We all know Bayern find a way to win it" - We know how, now!

Stegemann (the ref) was on Doppelpass (Sunday morning talk show) yesterday and he admitted he got it horribly wrong, not that it helps. But at least he went on TV to discuss it and answer questions I suppose.

He said at the time he thought Adeyemi was trying to buy the penalty by forcing contact. VAR didn't consider it a serious error and so he wasn't asked to look at it on the monitor.

From what I have seen of VAR this season, especially in the EPL, I'd take my chances with the refs again and dump it.

I get the sentiment, but ultimately in this case, it still leads to the same sh*tty outcome.

Find me a stranger career than Hendrik Weydandt. He never played in an academy as a kid. As an adult he started playing in the Oberliga (5th tier) with his local club just outside Hannover while studying at university, scoring a load of goals and getting them promoted to the Regionalliga where he scored more goals over the next 2 seasons.

He only turned pro at 22 signing for Hannover 96 where he was supposed to play for the II team in the Regionalliga, but he immediately impressed the coach in training and was promoted to the first team. He has made over 100 appearances in the Bundesliga and 2.liga for them over the past 5 years and is now retiring at 27 to work as a tax consultant.

Probably like most others, never heard of him, but what a story and career.

Bayern get to apply pressure on Saturday. Leipzig have the Pokal to fall back on, unless there are lads fighting for places for that final squad.

Looks like Bayern will be able to shift Mane this summer. A few suitors for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,818 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Back in BVB's hands now. Leipzig 3-1 up in Munich.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,070 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I'd say a shock result, but watching Bayern of late, it's not really.

Club needs some fresh blood this summer, especially up top.

Haller scoring the goals to put Dortmund top is a great story after what happened last summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,070 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Add to this, Dortmund on the verge of a title in the 1st year they haven't got Haaland.

Glorious moment in the 3.liga just now. Osnabrück spent 90 minutes struggling to create a chance against BVB II in a game they needed to win to be promoted. Then they scored a great goal in the 94th minute and a winner in the 96th. Wehen Wiesbaden fans were already on the pitch after beating Halle 1-0 in their game, celebrating what they thought was automatic promotion. Their social media had already put out a promotion tweet as well... They have to go through the playoff now.
