    Rachimov looks distressed

    Joe, fresh

Rakhimov threw loads but landed few in that 9th round.

    Cordina highly successful counter attacking.

Bellew gives the 8th and 9th to Rakhimov.

If it goes the distance I think it will be close.

I think the 10th was a Rakhimov round, this remains enthralling.

Cordina is a clear winner here.

Very very competitively fought, but on cleaner scoring I think Joe won..

I reckon 115-113 or 116-112 type scores for Joe

Rachimov looks very weak… I saw him after Rd 8 I think and he looked spent!

    8-4 one judge had it….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,128 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    I had it 116-111 Joe.

How can a judge only give Cordina 3 rounds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,242 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    The knockdown was crucial so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,128 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yep. No KD and final judge has it a draw… ends a draw

Anyway, I am very impressed with Cordina. He seems to have great speed and technique, good power and defence a decent chin and fantastic fitness.

Brutal body shot ends it. Gotta feel sorry for Garcia it's a horrible way to lose

Garcia very humble and respectful in the post fight interview. Nice to see that.

Are any channels replaying the Tank fight today? All the YouTube’s are terrible quality.

Very innocuous looking body shot. Almost half a push shot. Was an ok fight up to that. Fairly close. I think the southpaw v orthodox clash/feet made it wee bit disjointed and awkward.

One the DAZN commentators talking about Davis dominating the fight. He was in his arse.

Overall Garcia landed more shots, and was the aggressors mostly. Neither man was dominating.

For the sake a debate: was there an element of quit? Yes, the shot hurt. But he wasn’t writhing on the floor in pain. He was lucid, alert and listening to the count. As soon as it got to 10, up he gets and walks away. Looked to me as like he didn’t want to get up to even try and suck it up..

As I said, Davis too heavy-handed.

Claiming Garcia quit while you woke up and watched it from your couch is some laugh.

I brought it up for discussion..so quit your smart arse replies.

Plenty online discussion asking similar. The chap was alert, lucid and as soon as the count hit 10 he got up. Nobody is saying the shot didn’t hurt. But these are boxers. Supposed to be the hardest and toughest and most resilient men in sport. I’ve seen countless boxers hit with hard body shots, in real pain and sucking it up to get up.

Garcia, to me seemed to decide he wouldn’t suck it up, not that he couldn’t. He even said as much in the press conference. And his responses to Jim Gray in the ring were far from convincing.

Go watch Gatti v Ward where Ward landed vicious body shots on Gatti who sucked them up and decided to fight on. These shots, after many hard and brutal rounds.

Like said. Brought up merely for discussion. If you have any intelligent counter responses on what you think, show me. But don’t come on here engaging me trying to be a smart arse.
