If it's a discussion forum then don't tell people to "hop on" to ask Amazon whenever people ask questions. Otherwise there'd be no discussions at all. So I think you were rude.

You asked a question which ad of yet nobody could give you an answer you were happy with, you were advised it was because of brexit and wanted further explanation so I suggested a way for you to get your answer but you seem to have been offended for some reason when nothing rude was said to you.

stay blessed and enjoy your Sunday

omegaGene wasn't being rude - only amazon can explain why they won't ship certain items to ireland (and i'm not certain they even know themselves). for me, i can't understand why they can ship items individually, but can't ship them when they're in bundles. like an echo and a hue lightbulb for example.

chatgpt gave the following answer to your question :

One of the key consequences of Brexit is that it has resulted in changes to the way that goods and services can be traded between the UK and EU member states. Specifically, Brexit has led to the implementation of new customs and regulatory controls, including requirements for goods to be declared and checked at the border.

As a result of these changes, it is now more difficult and costly for businesses to import and export goods between the UK and EU. In the case of Nespresso pods, which are produced in mainland Europe, this means that they are now subject to new customs procedures and checks when they are imported into the UK.

This can make it more difficult for Irish consumers to buy Nespresso pods from UK-based retailers such as Amazon.co.uk, as the additional costs and delays associated with customs checks and other regulatory requirements can make the process less attractive.

Overall, the changes brought about by Brexit have created new challenges for consumers and businesses alike, and it will take time to fully understand the long-term impacts of these changes.

Nothing I've just a regular account for years

Seems to be some sort of a glitch there today on the system

I was trying for free prime on the main page but It wouldn't load , kept returning me to free student prime

Clicked on free student prime at checkout for the crack , only info needed was graduation year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 695 ✭✭✭ECookie13

And it accepted a regular Gmail/Hotmail as the student email? I have never heard of that working before

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kirk.

It's an account I've used for years with regular prime on and off

    It's an existing Gmail account

Wonder was there a glitch today it seemed , like it , no proof or any details needed to get it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,053 ✭✭✭ablelocks

in my current prime account, when i go to the prime student page there is a field for a .ac.uk email address - did you enter the gmail account there along with choosing the year?

I tried this earlier when I seen the post but wouldn't accept my Gmail

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kirk.

I checked out with an item and clicked on "try student prime " on the way to "buy now"

Only had to pick graduation year from drop down menu , nothing else

I'd say there was a glitch or something

That happened to me last year too on my side account. 6 months just expired there the other day. No idea why it gave me the free student trial either. Just a Gmail account associated.

    >SGIN 17" Full HD Laptop, not sure how good the specs are. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BXPTK8PR? Might do the basics. Works out about €385 delivered with all fees. Have a full read, no ethernet port for 1. (from non chat thread)

Ughh - just my opinion but Celeron has to be the worst processor ever - not even good for light desktop use - they date do quickly and I've recycled so many of them - don't do it to yourself - spend the extra 50 euros and get something that will last.

Anything that stands out to you? Its for someone that just wants to browse and the odd movie. Budget is €400 but they insist on a 17" screen which is expensive from what I can see.

I had an online course with Study365, this allowed me to register for an NUS / Student card (via the Totum App).

From there, I could send a screenshot of my student card to Amazon and I could avail of the Student Prime pricing (4 years and running!). Downside is, it's an individual account and you can't share Prime benefits with your household.

Its not great but its not that bad. Yeah spend more but at least everything now has an SSD and this has 8GB of RAM and that helps.

If you can pair the system back so its only running whats needed and none of the bloat that often comes on a laptop it should browse and watch movies OK. The benchmark for the CPU is a little higher than the very old Xeon chip I'm running now.

I'd be more against buying a makey up name brand over the Celeron chip.

Edit> Looking back at the listing the 15.6inch at €299 is a better buy with the Celeron N5095 - double the cores and double the benchmark.

Look into refurbished laptops. Wouldn't bother buying a new one if you can avoid it.

Just had a look at those and see that they can be delivered to any private address in NI without any bother (apart from being up in price now) but not a pick up point as you mentioned.

    Amazon Prime check in.

Check in 5 days in a row to get 5 pound reward - T&Cs say UK customers only.

What do you mean by checking in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,270 ✭✭✭con747

Presume they mean logging in but open to correction.

If you go into "manage prime membership" the promotion is there"

I wonder can you change the address before the final check-in , I've already checked in once .Hardly worth the bother for £5

I don't have the offer but then I'd be checking stuff on Amazon if not actually buying something everyday. So wonder if its an offer to try and get people that don't use there accounts so often into the routine of using Amazon more?
