    Hi,

Has anyone left an RSJ steel beam exposed in their home?

We are considering this for our home renovation but not 100% sure of any fire regulation issues. We've seen a few things online from UK sites saying that once the beam is painted with intumescent paint then it is fire protected. Does anyone know if insurance companies would be happy with this? And who would be qualified to 'sign off' on this?

    Thanks!

Yes this common enough now.Intumescent paint is needed and engineer signs it off as well as specifying the beam
