Front door with dried glue like substance on it?

Hi all.

Our front door has something that looks like dried glue on it. I can scrap it off with a paint scraper but it's hard to get into the narrow areas. Any idea what caused it? It is mainly on the rectangle areas rather than the whole door. Also can I paint a door like this? What type of paint would I need. Any suggestions appreciated.

It might be lacquer or some outer plastic layer of the panel peeling? You can get paint especially for PVC doors, Ronseal do it.

That's a varnish weathered

Sand it with medium s/ paper

Reapply a water based varnish

Same issue, someone put some varnish on or similar

Can paint any door with a proper primer

Project is ongoing. Not easy when you have 3 kids wanting to help. This is the undercoat. Stupidly I didn't take a pic before I started 🙈

@corks finest - one issue i am having is the door seal sticking to the paint on the door and coming off in places - Any solutions for this??? I tried cleaning the seals but its still happening. Was thinking of rubbing them with a little WD40!! Any thoughts

If painted over,you've no choice but to leave them dry completely,

Otherwise they'll keep dragging paint .

I reckon someone closed the door before it was dried properly.

Water based paint u used?

Hi @corks finest sand paper did not work unfortunately. Im going to get a thin seal to up over the current draught seal that is on the door already and see if that work.

U could rub a bit of Vaseline on the sealant
