    I know, right?

What the people really want is a sequel to DOA from 2006.

Pixel remasters announced for console in news that will probably surprise the morons that gave out about it being PC and mobile only but not surprise anyone else that square enix like money.

Only for PS4 and Switch. Nothing for XBox, could well be shenanigans by Sony being complete arseholes and money hatting it away from Xbox.

Looking like some improvements over the original releases. The font now doesn't look like shite. They've rebalanced it apparently, I did find some of the games too easy. Hopefully these will roll back for PC.

The big change I want though is that they fix the framerate issues and roll that back into PC.

These were announced back in February with a release in May, the physical copies are a SE Store exclusive here and are sold out(Asian Switch copies still available from Play Asia). The release has now been brought forward to 2 weeks time.

I saw these scalpers go mad for these, limited physical runs are a curious one because the supplier (Squeenix in this case) only get the RRP but the scalpers are usually making 2x times the retail price?

The internet is cracking up at Sony calling COD gamers "sophisticated".

I wouldn't say I was pining for a new Alice game but it's a little disappointing knowing it will never happen now. Shame as Madness Returns is one of my favourite "6/7 out of 10" games."

    https://www.patreon.com/posts/end-of-adventure-81049672

EA rejected American McGee's pitch for "Alice: Asylum"

On the question of funding, they have ultimately decided to pass on the project based on an internal analysis of the IP, market conditions, and details of the production proposal. On the question of licensing, they replied that "Alice" is an important part of EA’s overall game catalog, and selling or licensing it isn’t something they’re prepared to do right now.

Don't wanna make a game but the IP is too "important" to license out, so now it just rots in EA's vault.

Shame alright. Never played the first one, but Madness Returns was a nice slice of a different type of pie. Remember thoroughly enjoying it. Suppose that's another side of mergers and owning IPs, can just let them rot until they figure out how to monetise every game.

The first one is available as free dlc for Madness Returns on PC and Xbox, you have GPU iirc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,958 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Meh, I'd need a modern remake. I struggle with older games now.

I honestly think there should be some sort of copyright expirey date on these sort of dormant I.P's. Make a game or otherwise utilize it every X number of years or it goes to public domain... basically use it or lose it. that would stop these companies hoarding old dormant I.P's like Smaug on his pile of gold.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,755 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Yeah, I know they have it in movies, which is why we have things like Roger Corman's Fantastic 4 movie.

Alice in Wonderland is in the public domain so this is limited to American McGee's Alice.

Maybe he can make a spiritual successor instead of a sequel.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,667 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The fantastic four thing is a weird one where Sony have to make a f4 movie every few years or lose the license. EA just flat out own the American McGee's Alice license.

As you say, there's probably nothing wrong with a spiritual successor.

Winnie the Pooh is out of copyright now, so maybe we'll see American McGee's Winnie the Pooh.

There's already a horror movie with him

Persona 3 remake leaked. 3 seconds of footage.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,667 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Seems the persona 3 remake was part of an internal Sega presentation so more than likely true. Also shown was a jet set radio reboot or remake

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,051 ✭✭✭Mr.Saturn

Be great if we got a Jet Set that is as fun to play as it is to look at. It's like moving through slurry.

I like the first game but the movement is a bit jank. Future though is excellent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,051 ✭✭✭Mr.Saturn

Did they fix the jank in Future? Might actually give it a shot so

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,667 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I remember it controlling a lot better. But that's under a haze of 15 years of nostalgia.

So, presumably THQ Nordic's legal team have been all over this: cos "Tempest Rising" is a new game coming out that's so brazenly "Command And Conquer 5", right down to the style of its Resource (Tiberiu... uhhh, Tempest; is there the GDI? No, the GDF), they must have made sure nothing was too similar.

Looks good, exactly the kind of arcade, old-school RTS I will will always stop and pay attention to. And in the radio silence since C&C Remastereds success, it's the next best thing to a new C&C game.

That's asking a lot imo. Far too expensive for games that regularly are in one subscription or another. When I first read it I thought it meant Ubi+ was coming to Gamepass. Not worth €18 a month. Compared to EA's €4/month or €25 for the year, it's a rip off really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,539 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

EA Acces doesn't give you access to new games at launch though. I think this does?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,431 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

There is a tier on PC that does and is also €14.99 a month just like Ubisoft+.

Confirmation of the rumoured delay for Suicide Squad into next year.

You get a 10 hour trial of new games on EA, then it is usually added about 6ish months later.

Ubi does give you day one. Same as gamepass.

I first read the price as €18 and thought it was Xbox gamepass + ubi for €18 and seemed reasonable. But €18 for just Ubisoft is heafty.
