I applied for Council housing last year and got rejected as with me and my partner on the application together we are over threshold income in our area (my partners earnings were high)

If it was just myself and my daughter that I put on the form we would get on the list no problem because I'm not earning alot of money on illness benefit, nor if I was back to work

Were private renting in the same house for almost 4 years now, our landlord increased the rent 2 months ago and showed up at my house yesterday telling me he was going to be selling the house and that it wont be happening until the end of summer!

He offered me first refusal to buy it but we cannot afford to buy a house that wouldnt be an option, theres no hope of us getting a mortgage because we don't earn enough for one and have no savings.. There are no houses to private rent in my area or even outside my area, i dont know were they expect us to go because there is litterally nowere! Im honestly so upset because i have a 1 year old child and were such good tenants and they always say so which is why were shocked now,

We are so stuck now and im wondering if i apply for a council house again should I just say I'm single because I'm not married and have it for me and my daughter

In the application theres and affidavit to swear under oath that I'm not with my partner and that he's not living in the same address as me, I don't want to lie but I cant afford to buy a house and we have nowere else to live once this house is put on the market,

Please someone give me advice

If you cannot find anywhere you will be advised to overhold until you find somewhere or the landlord evicts you and then your council will have a responsibility to find something for you

You can always upskill for free (sprinboard etc) and *try* to increase your earnings. Alternatively start a childcare business.

Just wanted to clear off the fact landlord is selling has nothing to do with you as a tenant.

Even if you lie on the application the chances of you getting to the top of the council housing list by the end of the summer are pretty much nil. Best of luck OP.

There are people on housing lists with kids over a decade and still waiting.

Do apply to the council on a single basis anyway: as noted you won't get a place that fast, but it's good to be on the list just in case.

Complain to your TD that the government is forcing you to break up with the father of your child.

Start asking literally everyone you know to help you find a new place. Most houses that are rented now aren't listed on Daft etc but are filled thru personal connections.

You're advising the OP to make a fraudulent claim, potentially at the expense of someone who is actually eligible 🤯

And going to the TD, not going to do anything. I can assure you all politicians have inboxes full of emails from people looking for housing. They are not magicians.

OP if you lie in an affidavit that's serious stuff. Criminal.

As someone said, you've no chance of getting a Council House for years and years even if you were genuinely single. So start thinking outside the box and use every contact and connection you have and hopefully you'll find something.

I also don't condone the OP lying. It's tough though that probably half those on the list are lying about heir circumstances too. Single mothers being the largest cohort....most often they are not single.

I am advising that they may need to ditch the partner for the sake of getting their child securely housed.

Yes it sucks that they have to do that. But I cannot see many viable options.

No, you told them to apply anyway despite still having a partner. That is advising fraud. As are many other posters on here.
