Totally agree. Weird to bring back Lampard who already failed as a permanent manager. And demeaning for Lampard to accept that he's the class of manager who fills in as a temp. Not good for either party tbh.

I’d say Lampard is working for free.

Anthony just tries to score the same goal, shift on to his left, aim for the far corner.

The 4th goal just as bad comical defending from West Ham but Newcastle look good wait until they start spending serious money

Chelsea are in the quarter finals of the champions league, and talk to Di Matteo and Tuchel if people want to know what is possible for a Chelsea manager taking over late in the season.

A free hit at a CL title, starting in the quarters? I am surprised at any manager that doesn't seriously consider it.

And I know they are playing Madrid, it is a cup competition and there is absolutely no reason Chelsea could not go on a run.

5-1 to Newcastle playing in 2nd gear Jesus the question was asked when would they join the top 6 etc they already have by the looks of this.

Huge wins for Man Utd and Newcastle in the race for top 4.

West Ham are a shambles..dunno if Moyes can survive much longer.

No reason they couldn't have gone on a run at any point this season, but they haven't. Managers trade on reputation alone. Clearly none of them are rushing to be associated with this season's failure at Chelsea. I'm sure some have considered it, but if there was a top manager ready to step in a take over a team in freefall they wouldn't be resorting to the Lampard card.

Liverpool fans probably happy with that result tonight for United...you'd think they should now finish ahead of Brentford and qualify for the europa league

Moyes should be unemployed before the night is over. If he's not, then Hammers get all they deserve.

Lamps appt. A real strange one. He'll either knock out Real Madrid or take Chelsea down!

Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

This is a bit dramatic. Chelsea have nothing to play for

Can’t see how Lampard is better until the end of the season than Potter really. Potter did quite badly at Chelsea, but Lampard is just bad in general really.

How would the new manager bounce have applied at any other point in the season....

The comment made was about Nagelsman waiting until the summer, why would an available manager want to wait until the summer when he could have a completely free hit at the champions league right now?

It takes a long time going through the stages and a lot of work for a manager just to get to a CL quarter final, he won't take any blame no matter how the season ends, Chelsea have recent history of new managers riding that bounce all the way to the trophy...

Just seems like a no brainer to me.

Ya but chances are with Chelsea he'll have no CL next season plus he could be waiting to see what's gonna happen at Madrid in the Summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,199 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Pass up on a CL quarter final now in case he doesn't get to play the group stages next season?

Waiting on Madrid is a different discussion, it is waiting until the summer to join that I can't agree with.

Tbf he's getting paid to do nothing at present by Bayern so he might want to take advantage of that for a few months!

Strangest part is if they only want a caretaker until summer why not just leave Bruno Saltor in the role?

Its unlikely he could be as bad as Lampard.

I wish I could fail as badly as Frank Lampard in my professional life gets ran out of Everton for being a disgust and ends up managing against Real Madrid in the champions league!.

The Lampard appointment is bizarre and hilarious, Todd Boehly's hands on approach has been an absolute train wreck and should be a dire warning to Premier League teams seeking American owners. Being a billionaire does not qualify a person to run operations of a football team

Leicester are supposedly looking to bring in Martin O’ Neill on a short terms basis, what the hell is going on this season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,134 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

he has no experience and possibly doesn't want a media-facing role. Going for Lampard is ridiculous though, did Roman not pass on Guus Hiddink's number when he left?

Clubs are sacking managers at too great a rate this season for new managers to emerge to replace them, and that’s why they go back to Hodgson, Lampard, O’Neil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,189 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Absolutely bizarre from chelsea bringing in Lampard. Why not leave Bruno in place till the end of the season, or why sack Potter in the first place?

They aren't going to achieve anything, Top 4 is gone and they'll be out of the CL next.

Would be funny if lampard actually gets chelsea through to the semis or even the final, then naglesmann/enrique/whoever decides they want to come in early and hes dumped out before they go on to win the champs league. Again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,755 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Bruno's lack of experience is better than the experience Lampard brings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭doc_17

It would be hilarious if Lampard’s Chelsea beat Pep’s City in the Champions League final!

Well they can't meet in the final of the Champions League as they would meet in the semi-final if both with their quarter-finals
