I need a car sooner rather than later and couldn't get a VIN without adding the wheels (i wouldn't get them otherwise, even after market).

I'll keep refreshing the inventory in case one pops up (0% chance).

I’d mail them directly tomorrow before replying to the email incase it’s a phishing scam, but at least one other poster here has got the same one so given the long list of mess ups in teslas IT system over the last month, it wouldn’t surprise me that they need it filled out again!

Thanks for the tip. June actually works for us. Allows us to save more.

They have all my correct details which I didn’t include on screenshot and the guy does have a Tesla email. Does appear like they missed a trick. Shocking I know.

I love the way they give me a deadline of April 8th at the latest. What happens if I don’t reply they take it back?

No nothing yet. Only ordered yesterday and got VIN immediately. Will wait till I have a delivery date before paying.

Educated guess - Model Y LR Black/Black ordered in February. I don’t think you will have this car until 2024.

Theres been at least two boats so far in 2023 and they are only up to January 13th for black/black. Seems most likely there is only going to be one more boat in September based on previous years. I think it’s highly unlikely you make that boat.

Ireland in this weird situation where two variants of the model Y LR will be making up 95% of the orders but they keep on shipping random ones with a tow hitch that nobody in Ireland wants based on average demand around the world.

Unless they have a system sophisticated enough to make the September boat almost exclusively base LRs, I think you’re goosed. I don’t think Tesla will be that sophisticated for Ireland.

I walked into Sandyford yesterday after my order was cancelled. The English guy was really nice and understanding but the one thing I'm sure about is that he could do absolutely nothing. His job was to be a buffer and that was it. He told me every car that appeared in inventory here shouldn't have been on there. I asked if my cancelled car was getting assigned to someone else, nope it wasn't even coming to Ireland.

Was there anything left in the current Apr-Jun shipment? Again told no, with no hesitation. Nothing at all left. Only option was to order again and hope for a cancellation.

I've been here before, but it's a great car at a great price so I went home like a chump and put in another order. And I immediately got a VIN. I've also seen on here that people in the last 24 hours have gotten VINs assigned.

So I reckon those cancelled cars are still coming. The one thing that gets me is that I've spoken to lots of Tesla reps online, on the phone and now in person and they all say things confidently that just seem to be made up.

I cancelled a Q4 for the Tesla. If (if!) I end up with the Tesla I'll have a better car for the money. But the Audi customer service was excellent, consistent and accurate the entire way through the process.

Yep, vast majority of the information from Tesla online or in store is just outright false. There’s little to no point trying to communicate with them, they don’t know anything and they can’t influence anything. Just look at what the computer says like we do.

Totally agree on car - it’s best value on the road right now by some distance. My only concern is they are clearly transitioning from a semi-premium brand to a volume brand and will experience massive growing pains scaling so quickly. They will also almost certainty reduce prices/margins further to increase volume, so those buying now will likely see chunky depreciation over next year along with a deteriorating customer service.

I guess similar to what those who bought in late 2022 saw but to a lesser extent. It’s a hard one - it’s the best bang for buck, but do you really want to buy into a brand as it is in the process of transitioning to a basement price/basement service brand? I’m still on the fence.

Between many webchats, phone calls and emails I don’t think once did I get the same story twice always something different when asking the same questions. I don’t believe they even know themselves to be quite honest and as people said they will just tell you what you want to hear.

    @staples7 @serjical_strike

I would do a "Reverse Kelly" and send them an email and point out that under your T&C's you only fill out the paper work once for free - lets call it your "pen pushing adjustment" After that it will cost them 50 gazillion supercharger KM's for you to put more ink on paper, and if you feel they are operating in bad faith you may at your sole discretion decide to terminate any further communication, but I would thank them for the €5k discount on the car price.

You ordered this on 14th Jan?

I ordered on Jan 18th - same spec - no VIN or other communication about Tesla Vision / grant yet.

Any other MYLR Grant Qual orders with VIN allocated?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 208 ✭✭brasher

I'd edit your design and see if you can get a VIN hit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭usernameunknown

Yeah the day of the price change in Jan. Accept vision and have a vin with EDD. Not sure if I’m the only 1 on this group with LR plus vin but I don’t recall any others mentioning it. A lot of people went for the cheaper option of RWD

Going by the firesale lots of the LR orders included stuff that excluded the grant.

I think Occam's razor applies here: most of the support is in the UK. They have no clue about Ireland and that things are managed separately to the UK. The site is clearly designed for UK and just used for Ireland. Add, most likely, poor internal comms and it's a recipe for a disaster

The staff might be useless but after that many calls they I think they knew less than we did and their systems give partial information or they can only disclose so much.

It’s a **** show. Up until just prior to Q1 deliveries the sandyford number was actually answered in sandyford. I reckon most tesla showroom employees are on minimum wage and just don’t give a bollox. There’s no commission for them unlike their colleagues in traditional showrooms. Tesla seems to be an Amazon order type company that wants maximum profits with minimal infrastructure. If they cared the operation would reflect it…. Which by now we can all see for ourselves it’s not working as tesla expands in ireland.

I’m praying the software is more reliable in the cars than the system responsible for processing the actual orders. Some people get txt others emails and like me nothing. It’s so random I don’t even think the head honchos in tesla know how it all works. 2 weeks from a delivery window and zero comms other than they reiterate the line “the EDD is only an estimate and may change” 😆😆 I will need a holiday after I collect (if I collect) my car in a few weeks 🤣

Agree totally that they’re presently the best value EV’s around but there’s quite a few hoops to jump through to get one. Model Y RWD being the best value of them in my eyes. Customer service and resale likely to be an issue though given the way they appear to be headed. The sooner they separate out UK and Ireland customer service the better.

I know great cars and price and all take but after all the messing around would ye not take more comfort in telling them go F*"+k themselves. I know it helped me after my 7 month debacle (well that and b*tching about them on forums).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 yazzer

How far in advance did you pick up hidden VIN?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭usernameunknown

A few weeks back I think. around the time the others on here started seeing hidden vins. I checked it one evening and it was there randomly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭usernameunknown

It crossed my mind so many times and still does daily. Iv resigned to the idea of when I collect the car I’m gonna use both motors and drive as far away from sandyford as quick as possible and hope for the best

In my email to Kelly following the sale debacle I raised the point of all the conflicting information and dealing with the UK who haven't a clue. Kelly confirmed that they are putting together an Irish customer support team that we will be able to deal with directly.

Fair enough, hope it works out for ya and happy motoring.

Actually another good moment was getting the deposit back. Safely say I'll never own a Tesla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭Nedved85

i have an LR with VIN, ordered RWD in 2022, changed to LR the day of the price drop in January.

For €6K, I’d consider renting a car or buying a banger to wait it out.

There’s a big difference between 2024 and the next quarter.

in your experience how do they get this so wrong and why do they set such inaccurate expectations?
