E Sim for USA

I'm travelling to the US for 10 days and I think using an e sim will be the cheapest option for data. Does anyone have a recommendation of one for US travel? I can see a few different options online but if anyone has any experience using these that would be great 😁

Airalo app has been mentioned on this site before. I havent used it but have a look at it

I've used Airalo and it didn't work very well. Ended up going out and buying a local sim card. I'd be reluctant to try them again.

Used a physical T-mobile SIM when in NY and worked flawlessly

Available on amazon for various lengths of time

Just needed to register it to activate for dates required

Airalo works perfectly. You just have to read the setup instructions properly.

I’ve used Holafly. Works perfectly and has unlimited data allowance.

Same here. Bit of a faff to get up and running if I remember correctly. Deactivating data on my main sim, tweaking other settings and several restarts before it started working properly but after that it was solid for the week I was in the states. Very cheap too so it wasn't the end of the world if it didn't work

I used Airalo. It worked fine. I had an extra €50 or so on my bill alright, but I think it was because I allowed someone else to use my phone as a hotspot for a while.

I used Holafly. Got 5 days unlimited for €20. Worked perfectly. Bought a second for my friend but she has an old iPhone so no eSim (will sell it to anyone who wants it for €5!). Make sure your phone is compatible.

Thank you all! I ended up using Airalo. It was easy to set up and worked perfectly fine for the time I was there. It was handy to have the option to add on extra data if I had needed it also. I'll definitely use it again 😎

By comparison, Eir’s GoMoWorld eSim app costs €20 for 15GB in the US and €20 for 20GB in Australia, with other non-EU countries similarly less expensive.

They seem to be selling T-Mobile e-SIMs. You're probably better off cutting out the middleman and buying one direct from T-Mobile https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/t-mobile-esim-app

I actually bought a physical T-Mobile SIM on Amazon for travelling to NY (Nov 22) and had no issues with it. Cost around €30 IIRC

Dual SIM phone so for data only but had the option of using the local number. Could be useful for bookings etc.

Apols for the stupid Q - assume if I get a TMobile sim, pop it in my dual sim phone I can get unlimited data on my Irish number with it? Ire assign the data part to my Whatsapp etc?

Worked out great. Used the number the odd time too. Even got some spam calls which was impressive considering the number was only 2 days old at the time.
