The grants made me make this move considering we don't know if it go away.

It's looking likely (US fora) HW4 is required for FSD, but they can't admit it because they have sold FSD already with hardware that cannot support it...time will tell

Jayus you sound like a Tesla sales person now you'll definitely maybe have in a few months 😂.

So I'd agree with what you said put down the deposit depending on spec you might get specs faster (like white or black). Going by what people are saying here sept. maybe feasible if you don't get Inventory one (need to be lucky there).

If you get sick of waiting you can get your money back (if did that after waiting 7 months).

There are plenty of folk in here who got their car very soon after ordering....

I think 5 days was the record.

I ordered mine on Jan 18th 2020, and a few days later saw a car the same spec in inventory, called them and had it matched to my order, collected it on March 13th. Bear in mind that was only the 2nd shipment of Model 3's into Ireland, and some folk that collected the same week as me had been waiting 2+ years for their delivery.

Its a much more fluid operation now, and every ship comes with extra cars intended for inventory, and as they are drip fed into the inventory stock on the website, I'd say the majority of them get snapped up by folk with existing orders.

When you say plenty what would be the ball park figure maybe in the 10s? Given the number of car sold maybe plenty mightn't be a good description. Plenty of people have won the lotto too 🤔. I'd say many more people have been burned with delivery date wise. Mine was supposed to be sept. 21 (order July 21) it arrived finally march 22 that was even with a delivery in Dec 21 where I tried to get a cancellation (told them I'd take any spec but a few randomers with no long term orders seemed to get one).

Sept. seems to be the delivery date now in reality outside of the inventory lotto. Even if Tesla are saying that was pushed out date is down to a "software issue" that don't even make any sense.

I get the fanboys but when people are considering ordering they should get both sides.

In summary great car by all means put down a deposit you get it back if things don't work out. Don't get too optimistic you may get it early you may not best advice is have a few options Tesla will be the easiest to cancel. I had orders for an ID4, Ioniq 5 and a M3 the Ioniq 5 came first.

Does anyone follow the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Waiting Room and Delivery Queries thread at all?

Are there posters there who have cancelled orders?

Ive never met anyone who cancelled a Tesla order so would be curious to know if this happens in any significant number.

Good few people have gotten deposits back so that would be a good pointer to cancelling orders 😉

It seems most M3 deliveries this quarter were ones ordered pre price change & were already grant qualifying (ie mainly RWD), so very few cancellations

it’s notable for the first time in a long time there has been minimal M3 inventory. There was, from what I have seen, no LR in inventory and there was 2 M3P that sat there for weeks but eventually sold

So what is a 'good few people'?..just a ball park figure will do...

I got 2 back in 2022 alone and I am cancelling my current MYLR order so that’s another in 2023.

M3 LR & MY LR. Will be taking whichever arrives first!

    (Details in the online spreadsheet)

I think they can take the deposit from one and put it off the other rather than waiting for a refund.

I was in Sandyford last friday and they had a lot of new and secondhand cars up there. I'll be there again tomorrow morning with an hour to spare if anyone wants pics of current stock.

Probably the same amount of people who got cars very shortly after ordering in Ireland (not inventory) as Andybobandy posts. Funny I get pinged for numbers and the positive posts don't. But kinda a unwritten commandment on these threads "thou shall not dare say anything negative".

So let go with about 20 a year for the craic but more this time around with USS dropped.

I had an MY RWD and MY LR on order and cancelled both once i picked up an MYLR from inventory . Told they couldnt transfer deposits but would process refunds for both.

Ahh Podge, not really. Its more in response to your need to periodically remind the thread how Telsa did you wrong under the pretence that its in the public interest with comments like "I get the fanboys but when people are considering ordering they should get both sides" in an M3 thread.

As for being a fanboy? Well all I can say is you really should of held on to that order. More than 2 years on and I still love driving my M3 every fking day! Besides, its not too late to come and join us...you know you want to. Why else are you still lurking around these parts! ;)

Ok I think it valid to state that and you'll see with many in the last few weeks were "promised" April delivery now pushed to Sept.

So the response to the original question was that there was a good chance of getting a car quickly and some got it in 5 days. That was misleading, its also good to know the other extreme.

I bought going on all the positives on forums saying you'd get your car in a short time and misleading info from Tesla. People should be aware it may not be the case and get the full context. There are many people in the last few weeks who have sold their car are are left in the lurch on delivery dates.

By all means put down the deposit, maybe prepare for the worst and hopefully be surprised. If you go the other way it'll wreck your head

Great car but don't make big plans around proposed delivery ranges.

I'm still lurking as you call it because maybe two views on things can help people make more informed decisions and get an idea of expectations (middle ground is probably the more realistic).

Anyone who sold a car without a VIN assigned was a bit premature ok if you got a great price and don’t need the car or have use of another, in my case I didn’t sell my car till VIN and delivery date were confirmed and I could manage without a car for 2 weeks. I must say my delivery experience for my M3 last year was excellent exactly 8 weeks from order to collection, faster than I have ever gotten a new car before not including already built and awaiting a buyer, but that’s not possible in 99% of cases for in demand cars. This time I ordered a Y in October for feb/March delivery and I’ll have it in March so again accurate. Tesla are their own worst enemy by providing EDDs that jump all over the place, a process that is otherwise obfuscated by mr shiny shoes in you dealership of choice. You’re right for the majority of buyers it will be somewhere between the 5 days and your experience.

Whatever about the moving of delivery dates and whether there's going to be a Q2 boat I'm still very impressed that there's 800 odd cars being collected this week and next.

Just got model 3 and have a zappi already which is working fine. Zappi is set to ECO+ and have a timed charge session set for overnight. Model 3 doesn't seem happy and saying Charging Error No Power. Is that normal or do I need to change anything on Zappi?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 660 ✭✭✭Killer K

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭silver_sky

Yep, but also you can put it in that mode and it won't charge unless there is solar or timed charge. I have solar PV though - about 4.5kW of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭rx8

In the Zappi settings, below Eco+, is the scheduled timer. You have to set the charge times there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭silver_sky

Yep, already have that. The issue is the below

Is this normal for Zappi in ECO+?

Is the error during the timed charging period or when you plugged it in outside your scheduled charge window?

If it's outside the window might change once your timer kicks in.
