Hey folks I'm having a problem with a Mira vigour power shower. The outer control ring for turning on and off the shower has suddenly become difficult to turn when turning on and off the shower. The showers 12 month warranty has expired about 4 months so was hoping it's an enough repair I could carry out myself.

Any advice or direction would be really appreciated.

    Cheers

The outer dial turns cogs inside the shower. Assuming these are still aligned correctly then you problem is a faulty Mira concentric harness assembly. See link below.

They are not a terrible shower but parts are very pricey. The Vigour & Event are the only power showers sold with only a 12 months warranty. 2 to 3 years is the norm. Irish sale of goods act says that a product must be fit for purpose. A shower that breaks after just over a year isn't fit for purpose. You have up to six years to make a small claims court claim. Problem is its not worth taking a day off work for a court case for such a small amount of money. This is how they get away with such a small warranty.

You could call Mira and see if will do anything for you. You could point out that the vigour & event are the only showers sold in Ireland with such a short warranty. You could point out that the Triton Novel SR silent running thermostatic power shower is a better quality shower, giving less trouble, has a silent motor, costs around the same as the vigour yet it has a 2 years parts and labour warranty. They might provide the part for free as "a good will gesture" but you will still have to pay around €100 for them to fit the part.
