I just ordered the Gigabit 1000 Fibre Broadband from Vodafone

The sales guy mentioned that is our area the internet comes through via the electricity or plug socket.

What did he mean by that?

The sales guy is talking through his hat. It sounds like he's talking about Siro (rather than NBI or openeir) where the fibre cables are run along side the electrical cables and the fibre cable enters the premises generally in the vincity of the electrical meter.

He might be confused because Vodafone are partnered with the ESB and Siro.

Your connection will be a fibre optic cable and not through your electric wiring or sockets.
