Scratch Cups 2023

Are handicap ranges available anywhere? Thanks

I asked them that and they hadn't those details confirmed yet. They are always released to members first. Worth giving the clubs a shout in a few months time and they will have those dates sorted.

Mount Juliet on a Thursday is taking the pi$$, and it's probably €80 if last year is anything to go by

it's actually €85 which is saucy enough, the winter open series on Mondays is €65.

I've just had another look and it appears that it's the Junior and Intermediate on Thursday, no date yet for the senior scratch.

It's incredible how difficult it is to find dates and times for these events off clubs. Some clubs handicap cuts off are higher for the Junior and Senior as well, bit of a shitshow really.

In previous years they have put it up on their websites about 2 months in advance, closed but with a date and time for when it’s going live. And that’s about 4-6 weeks beforehand.

Anyone know if Cork Golf club still have a junior scratch cup?

The 2022 handicap index cut off was -1.2 and it is "advised players should be below 3.0 to be eligible."

I have a Google Calendar with fixtures added for the various scratch cups.

Out of interest are those types of prizes in voucher form or how do they work

€830 is a very specific number ?

Senior junior intermediate and minor are handicap categories, not age related.

I also made that mistake when I moved here from the UK!

Monday August 7th (the Bank Holiday) - 18 holes, booking probably opens Friday 28th July but I'll post up the date when it's finalised

Sunday June 4th for the Intermediate & Minor Scratch Cups

The current limit is £700 or $1000. That came in at the start of last year. They are very different numbers when converted to euro so maybe Golf Ireland have settled on €830.

For competitions with no nett prizes and no handicap grades then that prize can be cash. i.e. senior scratch cups and elite amateur competitions

Your confusion is certainly reasonable, but to be fair I think 95% of GUI members understand the distinction. I had the same confusion when I first joined a club a few years ago - I was an Intermediate member of my club and had to enter a minor SC.
