Question about an old arcade game.

Sounds like "qix" by taito, 1981.

There are more modern versions from the 90s that involve revealing x-rated nude models too.

Definitely sounds like a variation of Qix. One difference standing out is Qix is always just a square boarder, it doesn't have different shapes.

Absolutely great game by the way. Very basic visually but there's a hell of a lot of playability there, as evidenced by all the clones and nude-y versions that followed.

Crush Roller/Make Trax? Sounds a bit like it and apparently a lot of cabs here back in the day, although it's not exactly red but could have been a bootleg. There's a few other games that spring to mind too.

How do you lads pronounce Qix by the way?

I've always said it as 'kicks', but heard someone recently call it 'quicks' and I am now unsure...!

Like the French for the number ten, dix, its pronounced kwees but you really have to get that guttural at the start or people will think you're strange.
