I don't think we're beating Madrid, but if Madrid's mentality was "grab one in the first half and switch to autopilot" they're definitely rethinking it.

I didn't get why he kept wanting to stick the boot in and say how bad United were and implying this is that start of a massive downturn in form than just celebrate the win. I'm bias as a United fan but agreed with Neville, not overly concerned about today long term. It's hugely embarrassing (i've had to turn my phone off) but a bit of perspective. Playing every 3/4 days with a very good 11 but a poor B team will take its toll.

United lose their next 2 games and I'll be concerned. It's been a quality 3 months but today proves the squad is still massively fragile and there is a long way to go to become actual title challengers.

Credit to Liverpool, they pounced on their opportunity and could/should use this as a catalyst to start their season and guarantee top 4.

They shouldn't capitulate but it's happened, it's happened before.

Liverpool lost 7-2 to Aston Villa a couple of years ago, that shouldn't have happened either but it did and they moved on.

Liverpool hammering Man United - they've become pretty common in the last few years.

Thought the ref was pretty poor today. A few fouls on Salah that he let go, but every ref does that. McTominay was nasty, but it was allowed in the game and Liverpool are lucky to come out of the game with no injuries.

Bruno shouldn't have stayed on the pitch. The referee should just have sent him off to put him out of his own misery. The manager wouldn't take him off. Imagine your captain asking to be taken off. Diving full time. Complaining ya everything. He's a disgrace.

Except he is not and was never lighthearted. Always comes across as being a bit angry I think.

Best and worst? Mancs in the best form for years and pool in the worst??? You logic is not logical

Competitive and a dislike for Manc Utd is probably a better description

That was a freak result as Neville kept going on about, I think 3 of Villa's goals were from deflections and flat footed Liverpools 2nd choice keeper at the time Adrian who also gifted Villa their opening goal.

I met Souness once and he came across as an angry man. It made him great player but today is a stopped clock moment for him, he's usually saying things as a pundit that make little to no sense at all whether it's about United or not he has some odd opinions in general.

The whole idea of having ex players from opposite clubs (long past relevance to the club) is specifically to draw the outrage and subsequent clickbait that you are falling for and feeding.

Real journalism would make a point of banning non neutrals.

I'll only make one comment after that rout this evening:

How, after spending hundreds of millions on players, are United stuck with DeGea as #1 goalie? He's pants....

As was Robertson going down holding his face when he got it in the stomach.

If that’s all you can take from today, I feel sorry for you., really I do!!!!

On todays performance, United have bigger problems than their keeper in fairness.

I know the Indo wouldn't agree with you. They just love having an article giving Roy Keanes opinions when he is doing 'analysis' on British TV.

I have no doubt one will appear this evening about todays game.

    As said, clickbait.

The myth that Utd are potential challengers is busted.

That myth was busted when we lost to Arsenal a few weeks back.

Perhaps. Blown apart today. I was fearful of Utd being a force under the new manager. Not so sure now. Wilted today in a big game.

I've watched all of our games recently and fatigue has been a major issue. The schedule has been grueling since Christmas and injuries haven't helped.

If we fall apart from here Ten Hag has questions to answer but so far he's been doing well and didn't take the easy option when asked about fatigue after the game today.

The fact that ABU's are afraid of what he's done so far is a good sign.

We've had to watch Liverpool win for the last few years, it's part and parcel of football.

How was Bruno not even carded let alone sent off for that incident with the official?

United fans thinking VAR is out to get them is ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,868 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

A large reason behind the fatigue has to be ETH's reluctance to rotate.

The only players that seems to get rested are the CBs. And even then, he is playing Shaw at CB instead of giving Shaw a rest. Shaw had a shocker today.

Playing a full strength team against lower league teams in the cups. Largely the same team starts every game. You don't do that when trying to complete on a few fronts. For example why is Sancho not being trusted more?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭Augme

Are ABUs afraid of what he's done? They are third in the league, and have never looked like challenging for the title all season. That's after spending €220m this summer and €90m on Anthony. As a Liverpool fan I'm happy with him as the United manager. I've not seen anything from him or United that would change my mind about that.

Sancho had what was reported as some sort of mental break down earlier in the season. The fact he's in the squad at all is a miracle.

We bought Weghorst in up front because our number 9 (Anthony Martial in case you've forgotten who he is) is permanently injured and or not pushed about playing.

Our midfield is McFred, Bruno, Casemiro (suspended for three games recently) and now injured and not expected to be any great shakes when he arrived Eriksen.

That's a side that won a cup final, beat La Liga leaders Barcelona over two legs of Thursday night Europa league games, kept up reasonable league form and knocked a typically spirited West Ham out of the cup.

There's limits to what you can achieve. It's no excuse for getting thumped 7-0 but a fvck up was in the post.

You literally just said you were fearful of United under Ten Hag, your words.

As a Liverpool fan does today make up for all the crap performances your side has put in all season? Are you confident of taking maximum points from upcoming games against City Chelsea and Arsenal for example?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,187 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Bar sky I don't think anyone thought united were title contenders surely? Ten hag has progressed them but it's not a side capable of 85 plus points no chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

To be fair to Ten Hag he at least had the common sense to bounce that Ronaldo fella out the door and to get Maguire as far away from a pitch as possible.

So he at least had some ounce of cop-on over charlatans like Ole, as it appears only the likes of Ole, Keane and Neville (to an extent) could not see beyond the glaringly obvious. Luckily for ManU fans, Ten Hag wasn't a fcukin idiot.

Other than that, it's way too early to go one way or the other with him TBH. ManU are better than before, but the football is certainly nothing to write home about and Rashford's purple patch has certainly dug them out of a lacking xG. 7-0 was a surprise to be sure, but where the 3pts went to today wasn't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭Augme

When did I say I was fearful of United under Ten Hag?

Absolutely not. Its been a very poor season ans we've been awful for nearly all of it. Despite that we are only 7 points behind United though. Sums up where the clubs have been at over the last few years though. I wouldn't say confident of taking all three points but more confident then I was this morning. Today's performance was like the ones we've seen them deliver for the last few seasons, everyone knows Liverpool can deliver performances like that week in week out as they've done it before.

Apologies, you've got a similar avatar to another user who said that.

Would you be confident of putting seven goals past City, Chelsea and Arsenal over the next few weeks?

The drop off has been pretty shocking for Liverpool this season, maybe a corner has been turned but last week United were celebrating a cup final victory lest we forget, a week is a long time in football, I'm not sure how much can be read into today in terms of Liverpool producing similar performances week in week out from here to the end of the season. It will be some serious turn around if it happens though.
