Surely the celebrations from 7 goals are enough to merit more than 3 mins injury time on their own.

Final result from today - Liverpool 7 Manchester United 0.

Aggregate score - Liverpool 8 Manchester United 2.

Is that Uniteds heaviest PL defeat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,620 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

Liverpool proved that klopps mentality monsters are still inside them.

United prove they're still Ole's outcasts.

Just spotted entering the United dressing room with a baseball bat, apparently.

I think commentary said heaviest defeat since boxing day 1931 or something like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,300 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Joint heaviest defeat ever. The other 3 or 4 were back in the long ago when stuff like this was more common.

I'm neutral but I can't wait for the podcasts tomorrow. It's gonna be some laugh.

Always bad when they have to spell the score

Fair play to Liverpool. Sensed blood and demolished United.

When it went 3-0 the game was up. Should have just taken the medicine and brought on a few defensive players in place of attackers, instead of subbing off Fred just take off Antony or Rashford.

Fernandes is a very weak captain.

United were woeful. Liverpool played brilliantly and everything fell their way. Days like this happen sometimes. At the end of the day it's just one loss, Utd will move on and its more about the reaction to the game than the game itself for Utd now. Fergie suffered plenty of hammerings and went on to have successful seasons.

Enjoy the week ahead Liverpool fans

You could do a highlight clip of Fernandes, diving, fouling, complaining at not being taken off etc - it would epitomise the United performance today.

Most things went right for Liverpool. I was not convinced by our midfield selection, but they coped admirably. Gakpo is fairly unreal.

So many United players were very poor. Rashford had 1 chance and was pretty much nonexistent for the most part.

Martinez got a bit of a schooling, as did Shaw and fairly lost the plot throughout.

Salah goes top of the scoring charts in the premier league for Liverpool.

Days as a Liverpool fan don't get any better than that.

The converse is also true for United obvioulsy.

    Well that was embarrassing.

After the last few weeks of the media telling us how great utd were again, headlines tomorrow will be "crisis at Old Trafford ".

Frenandes has to be the worst captain any club has ever had. The exact opposite of what you need when things are going against you. If I gave my true thoughts on him I'd be banned.

Normal service has resumed one could say. Liverpool have been far below tier normal standard for the season while United have probably enjoyed being held in a higher regard than they deserve due to the drop in standards from their rivals.

Losing at Anfied is never a terrible thing given how difficult a ground it is but if I was a United fan I'd be furious at the how the players responded when they went 2-0, and especially 3-0, down. They just gave up.

Well that was an afternoon to warm the heart. Always good to see Mancs losing. Beer in hand with a big smile.

I’m not a pool fan, it’s just great to see the Mancs beaten, and so comprehensively makes it even better.

Ultimately the game came at the perfect time for Liverpool and the worst possible time for United.

We were terrible today but we have a shockingly thin squad and have been playing and winning big games over the last few weeks and it takes it's toll.

There's no excuses for losing 7-0 but a year ago we were losing almost every week, as things stand we're going OK in the league one Cup in the bag and still in the mix for two others with Wout bloody Weghorst up front.

Ten Hag deserves to get stick for today but he's been working miracles most of the season, he's hit the wall today at the worst time possible against the worst opposition possible.

Is there a possiblity that United fall apart and drop down the table after this? Of course but I'd be surprised if that did happen.

I bet Madrid aren’t feeling as confident with their lead after that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,452 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Eh?

    Working miracles?

Go through the utd players today.

De Gea, wc winner, ec winner

    Martinez, wc winner

Varane, wc winner, multiple cl winner

    Shaw, England International,

    Casemiro, multiple cl winner

    Antony, bought for £90m

Bruno, highly rated (I hate him)

Rashford, has been raved about for months.

It's hardly a side that should capitulate so easily.

Agreed, I don't get this working miracles idea. In fairness, it's a narrative the media have pushed heavily, but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Look at the teams United are ahead of in the league: Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, Fulham, Brighton, Brentford, Chelsea. Only team that might be considered a surprise, certainly based on today, is Liverpool. Ten Hag won a cup beating Charlton, Forest and Newcastle on the way. Hardly a miracle. Closest thing to a miracle result was knocking out Barca but they were without Pedri and Gavi who were huge losses for them and it was a close tie. He's been a big improvement on Solskjaer and Ragnick but you'd expect that from a competent coach that has been successful elsewhere. The Solskjaer era has left most United fans gagging for success to the point where even the standards from the LVG and Mourinho eras seem a distant memory.

Souness has had this in the back pocket for a while. And he's right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,257 ✭✭✭omega man

Christ Souness is miserable. Just wants to stick the boot in instead of enjoying the win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 990 ✭✭✭earthwormjack

Souness making a joke of Neville there was fuckin hilarious 😂

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 36,195 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

He is enjoying the win though.

He is pulling Neville up, quite correctly. Gary saying Liverpool didn't play that well etc - it's embarrassing listening to him. Keane is clearly taking a back seat as he knows Souness is correct.

The clip prematch of Souness saying he thinks Liverpool will win by 2 or 3 and the camera widens to show Keane and Neville laughing, will be shown for years.

I thought Ten-Hag spoke very well - he normally does - calling it unprofessional.

I can’t stand Neville and seeing him squirm is sweet but I still think Souness comes across as angry and bitter. He could have done it more lightheartedly imo.
