Wago connectors in pendant fitting & wago diameter

Fitting a metal pendant light in place of a plastic pendant & rewiring existing rose to Wago connectors in the same wiring pattern. Is safe to place the wago connectors within the metal pendant fitting rather than in a dedicated wagobox inside the ceiling void? If so do the connectors need to be secured to the metal pendant fitting in anyway, eg with tape or clips? Pendant pic attached.

Related, would the Wago 222 connector's max cable size of 4mm be big enough for the singles method wiring that I have (pvc/pvc shielded neutral looping from rose to rose), see pic of existing rose for visual.

Why don’t you connect the cables directly into that connector block inside that metal fitting

any else inside that fitting and you’ll struggle for space

I definitely wouldn’t fit a box inside the ceiling as you’ll have to cut a bigger hole out and it’s unlikely you’ll get the fitting to cover it. There’ll also be a bridging piece to screw the fitting to.

These wagos are lower profile than the ones you linked and will fit better no problem get rid of connecter in fitting and h use wago inside fitting will work great way better than the screwed connector

Disclaimer: electrical newb, learning for DIY of basic tasks like this.

I would use the existing terminal block but I assumed it wasn't possible for the following reasons;

1. Terminal block type: it's a 2-way terminal block. My existing rose is using a 3 way block for the 3 neutrals. How would I recreate that 3 way connection on a 2-way terminal block? Double up 2 of the neutrals on the same single connector within the block?

2. Terminal count: there's 6 terminals in the terminal block, 7 wires need wiring (the 6x wires in the existing rose + the earth wire from the metal pendant). Is the solution there just to double up the earths (ie put the 2 earth wires into just 1 of the 6 terminals instead of 2)? If so which wire type should be at the other side of that doubled up 2way terminal?

If using Wagos is modifying the fitting, wouldn't using the 6-point terminal block that comes with the light fitting not also constitute modifying the fitting? I thought Wagos could be used to effectively recreate a rose (not modify it per se), in a more user-friendly & potentially safer way.

It's not easy to connect 2 neutrals into that tiny screwed connector if you look at your existing ceiling rose it's actually like using wagos except the connections are screwed take off the ceiling rose and use wagos make your life easy and that's coming from someone who has done hundreds of fittings like this

theres no problem doubling up cables directly into that connector block on the light fitting

put 2 blue wires into N

earth wire into E

brown wire into L

i agree with Kirk that you are over complicating things(I understand you are inexperienced at this)
