PTSB and Dept of Education

Hi

Not sure if this is the place for this.

Neighbour (not on Boards) set up a bank acc in a new PTSB branch in the last few week (new branch in the building of the old Ulster Bank)

On Maternity leave and going back to work shortly, but neither Dept of Social Welfare or Education are accepting her new IBAN for payments

IBAN is valid, both Permanant TSB and an online calculator say its valid......PTSB telling her to talk to the employer....and the Govt depts saying fill out the form again as its wrong

Is there anything else she can do?

Must a mistake made in the form or the employer reads the form incorrectly. Just resubmit the form.

The software used by the departments might be checking the IBAN by comparing the old bank sort code (which forms part of the IBAN) with a list of sort codes.

As this is a new branch, it may have a new sort code that isn't in the Department database.

If the new branch is using the old Ulster Bank sort code (unlikely, but you never know), there may be a block on setting up payments to those sort codes.

I meant it was relevant in terms of that where shes working and why the Dept of Education was mentioned

Most likely the software as the form was sen in, and also called out over the phone, after being checked on an online calculator
