Customs & VAT on U.K Imports

VAT is 23%, customs duty is 10% both based off the invoice price plus shipping/transport cost afaik.

AFAIK if you are buying from a dealer over there, they don’t have to charge you VAT as the car is being exported so that will drop the price straight away.

That only applies if its a VAT qualifying car, they can't deduct VAT otherwise.

Genuine question, do some cars in the trade not attract VAT?
