Types of Non-profit organisation

Hello,

My and some colleagues are planning to open a non-profit professional association in Ireland.

Its goal is to promote our profession and help fellow colleagues develop their skills and further their careers by providing access to relevant content and support.

We cannot seem to decide between a Company Limited by Guarantee, an unincorporated association or a designated activity company (DAC).

Could anyone shed some light and explain the advantages of each one or for which cases should each be used?

It would depend greatly on the specifics, and is something you should take professional advice on.

In the most general terms, a CLG would probably be the one to look at. Make sure the constitution is carefully drafted to meet the specific needs of the organisation.

I have learned about the two kinds of non-profit organizations (501C3: public charity and 501C4: social welfare organization), about the B-Corp for social or environmental problems and the professional corporation that offers professional services.
