Apologies if this isn't the right thread but I returned an item, to the UK, under warranty. The manufacturer agreed to replace it & I agreed to pay the postage. An Post are charging me VAT & a processing fee. Is this the fault of the manufacturer not indicating that it's a return ?

I have had to send a lens to the UK to have the firmware on it updated. The lens was originally bought in the EU so VAT has already been paid on it. When the lens is sent back to me am I going to get the usual triple rectal insertion from Revenue/Customs/An Post?
