Looking at buying a 1991 200sx nissan, expecting to pay 23% vat on bringing it home here.

However i dont know how VAT is calculated on these classic cars over 30 years old,is it 23% on what I pay for the car or is it calculated once imported and decided by the government? any help is appreciated thank you.

There seems to be two rates depending on the agent you use and how good the agent is dealing with revenue. Its supposed to be 23% but some get through at 13%. Then there is the duty at 10%. Some get through without it and some dont. It seems to be a Lottery

It will be 23% on the invoiced cost - just use a customs agent like bell.ie and they'll do all the legwork for you.
