Has anyone ever bought title insurance?

Looking to buy a house but it has an extension and asking the agent said there is a permit but I am a bit worried it is unauthorized.

I will get a surveyor to check it out but I was told that there are disclaimers in their reports.

Has anyone taken out this kind of insurance in Ireland? Because it seems that in Ireland, people don't take out this kind of insurance.

Or is there another solution to avoid problems with the title?

Titlk insurance is no help in that kind of situation. If you buy with dodgy planning, all you can do is get a discount on account of it. You should go to the planning office and look at the planning file for the house. Either there is planning or there is not.

Exactly you need to find out if there is planning permission done for this extension. Some extensions don't require planning permission, check out the regulations.

thanks for the information, very useful, will do that. Also should I get an architect to help me review the documents and compare the site? Because I may not be able to read the permit documents myself.
