Any idea why this dark area is appearing on my TV

Hi all - I've a Panasonic TV, not yet two years old, and this dark area has appeared on it - any idea what could be wrong? The TV is still under warranty.

It's the main TV in the sitting room and is used a lot, but it isn't ever just left there displaying one thing. Strange that this could happen after less two years of owning the TV. I got in touch with the retailer to see what they think. It was an €800 TV so I'd expect more from it.

I got something similar on my LCD TV years ago from watching too much 4:3 content. There was noticeable discolouration where the pillarbox bars were.

~~Not necessary~~ Partial condition to display one thing. The "bright" thing in that particular location, e.g menu of your subscription TV

How much this resemble the position of "stain" on your screen ?

If this is an LED tv, that's a panel failure, either due to mechanical damage, or a part backlight failure or general panel defect.

It's a warranty claim as it's not user fixable.

I thought it had to be. I've two samsungs that I've had for nearly ten years and both are perfect and we watch them as much as the Panasonic.
