Seems they are building an insane squad for the future but with the risks of some of the players not working out for the costs involved on such long contracts, maybe they could be offset by getting say half the money back on some if they don't work out. I doubt Potter will be there after this season regardless of how this season pans out for them.

Even if they can find a buyer for less money on players who flop, they'll be hard pressed to find clubs willing to take on those big wages. Huge risks being taken. Feels like they're basically recreating the Bale Madrid mistake on a bigger scale. Could well end up being a few new golfers playing off scratch around those parts in a couple of years time!

5 goals in last 12 games for chelsea. me thinks they should have invested more in a striker. i suppose lukaku is returning in the summer

They're saying they're not laying out big salaries to the new lads, something in the region of 5 million/yr for Mudryk is being briefed for instance. Still, what's the chances of him back at Shaktar or Enzo ayomg for Valencia or Villareal with Chelsea paying 75% of their wages in the Europa League in 2030....one can only hope 😂

Chelsea amortising their goals over their next 7.5 games.

Not even thinking about the newer players, they're going to have two unwanted forwards on huge wages to try and get rid of in the summer in Auba and Lukaku, I know Aubameyang is on 160k, Lukaku is paid 325k per week to play for another team this season. I think it was a 5 year deal Lukaku signed as well.

Think Boely is hoping he’s the one who bridges the match day income gaP between PL clubs and NFL clubs. There’s a thing doing the rounds that the Americans believe that they are 20 years ahead of European teams when it comes to match day revenue. But there’s so many holes in that theory that it’s hard to take seriously.

What's the gap and what's the difference between how they generate that revenue? How would it take 20 years to bridge it?

In NFL the stadia are miles away from city centres surrounded by massive car parks. In England, all fans go to the local pubs/cafes/restaurants before the game and as result the only real revenue generated is ticket sales. And these are a fraction of the cost of an NFL game, for various reasons such as amount of games. Maybe Boely thinks he’s the one American owner who can make the fan spend an average of $740 per home game like the NFL!

Jesus the average fan spends that much **** hell, like straight away I'd have thought no chance you are getting that spending from football fans but is it more likey for London clubs?

That was a terrific strike by Saka on the volley. Pickford beaten but cleared off the line by Coady.

The hassle of getting in and out to MetLife Stadium from Manhattan was a **** nightmare, and as for the prices of stuff they sell in the stadiums was mad. Was like $7 for a bottle of water and $16 for a pint at MetLife, Barclays Center, and MSG. Fair enough though the food was worth the money because it was top notch.

Absolutely nightmare to get to and from, by comparison to Barclays and MSG. Was there last November, loved Barclays- great atmopsphere but MSG is a much nicer stadium with a great location.

Everton doing very well, not giving Arsenal any time on the ball. Arsenal can however improve in the second half.

Does that 150-200 per head include the ticket costs? If not, that's insane. But I don't see how they can hope to get near that revenue in the PL, especially in a 40k seater stadium.

I think it does include it. Mental money but they only have 30-40% of the amount of home games PL clubs have. Boely was spouting on about having All Star games in England like they have in NFL. Possibly showed a lack of understanding of soccer on Europe but he was trying to float new ways to make money similar to The States .

Terrible from Odegaard defending his man

Everton take the lead, 1st goal for Everton by Tarkowski on the hour mark. Arsenal had been playing better, it wil be interesting to see how they recover.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,673 ✭✭✭doc_17

Pickford caught a cross there and had the ball in his hands for 24 seconds.

I expect him to be booked for time wasting, in the 93rd minute.

Fair play to the ref playing on from a fake head injury, hate that players try abuse the rule it's so scummy

Arsenal have not been really at it and Odegaard has had a poor game - he really is central to how they play.

That's a MASSIVE 3 bonus points for Everton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,673 ✭✭✭doc_17

From the 86th min to when the ref blew at 97:00, the ball was in play for 3 mins 30 seconds or less than a third of the playing time…

That fa cup result against City was probably the turning point for Arsenal. Absolutely massive pressure on them now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

I feel like that FA cup loss to Man City might have psychologically effected the Arsenal players , they didn't look right today.

City v Spurs tomorrow is massive now

Deserved win for Everton but after the new manager bounce has gone, I can still see them in danger of relegation.
