Mazda 6 or Toyota Avensis

hi all, looking for some advice regarding people's expierence with either a 2008 Mazda 6 1.8 petrol or the Toyota Avensis 1.8 petrol models as i'am trying to narrow down the list ?. Are there any particular issues to look out for with each model . tia brendan

The Mazda can be prone to rust underneath.

I owned a Mazda 6 08 1.8l petrol a few years ago. Even though I loved the car back in the day, it broke my heart in the end.
The engine drank oil. I had to top it up by 2L a month. In the end, as expected, it failed the NCT on emissions, took a loss, and got rid of her.
I wouldnt go near one.
