Anyone replaced their oil\gas boiler with an electric 'boiler' like the Tepeo ZEB and what it's like running on night rate. I'm not considering it any time soon but the PV system is chugging away nicely so looking at the next thing.... 🤣
also, presumably the market for 2nd hand oil boilers is thin!
🌦️ 6.7kwp, 45°, SSW, mid-Galway 🌦️
My diy version 😂
over the cold weather, 30kwh gave the house a good boost in the morning and allowed the stove maintain the temperature quite easily.
It's really gonna come into its own whenever my panels really start generating.
Zero oil this winter.. (well tank is empty, no choice!)
For second hand oil boilers you might pick a non condensing one up fairly easily.
Somehow you reminded me of Vogman on YouTube who made his own electric furnace for casting metal
Now I'm wondering could I make a DIY heat battery using some furnace bricks, a couple of electric heating elements and running a water coil through it 🤔
Might be seeing Gen2 of your heat battery at some point 😁
Suppose.. get a storage heater,.. somehow mill out route for copper pipe.. and insulate it... Easier to just add another tank/get a heatpump + more batteries 😂
Yeah true, or get some electric UFH and use the house itself as the thermal storage
