Do they reckon they'll be spending a lot of time hanging around outside here?

Some have said that he's a good teacher. Rather than standing outside in the cold, could he perhaps volunteer to give grinds help some of the students? Totally optional of course, only for any students who actually would want that.

I'm sure there are some who might be struggling a bit with their German or History.

Not that it would change much, Enoch is still an ex-employee who was fired. But it might give me some sense of higher moral ground, and maybe elicit some sympathy.

Better than standing outside. Is a teacher who doesn't teach really a teacher ?!

Looking forward to that episode of Reeling in the Years !

further, does he have to turn up and wait outside every day?

Can he not just issue a statement saying that he's willing and able to work, it's the school that are stopping this from happening.

I mean, we get it, the school fired him and won't let him it.

I wonder which Burke is up next to be sacrificed on their parents alter of righteousness. First Ammi had her career trashed, now Enoch. Once he fades from the spotlight will the parents get another child to destroy their careers.

I dont think you understand Enoch Burke if you think he will give in and walk away easily.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

He has been sacked, he's not getting paid for standing around outside the school.

Two reasons.God loves sufferers. It's the reason people walk barefoot around that island on Lough Derg. There's a strain of christianity that think their suffering makes them holy. So if there's an option of standing in the cold or sitting at home watching daytime TV, they have to choose the former.

Which brings me to reason 2. There's a spectacle. They believe that they are spreading Gods message. Every time it's reported on they think they're doing it better. They have to spread the faith/hatred. The more coverage they get the holier they are.

Has he filed his appeal yet?

Tomorrow is the last day he can AFAIK.

No school in Ireland will hire him now. He's ruined his career through his own ignorance and bias.

I think that's what he's repeatedly said to cameras while standing outside the gates. That he's there to teach and it's the school that's stopping it because the school and courts are wrong in all the decisions they've made.

But that's the point; him releasing that as a statement doesn't get him in front of the cameras. He needs to turn up and wait outside all day because it's grandstanding for the media, to show how he feels he's being persecuted for his religious beliefs, ignoring all the actual legal reasons and legitimate procedures in place which he ignored the whole way through, thereby causing the very issue he's now the centre of.

It really will be the icing on the cake if Ammi completely messes up his last hope legally speaking by being late with their submission.

Simeon seems like he is following in Enoch and Ammi's footsteps. Protests at NUIG while doing law, etc.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me in the least if he didn't appeal the dismissal. Why would he file a appeal over a decision that he is pretending didn't happen? Appealing it would mean admitting that it is real.

He has a martyrdom complex, plus the grift needs to keep getting the US evangelicals & fundies paying up

If any posters here are within a few hours drive of Wilson hospital. Could they make Enoch some soup and sandwiches? I wonder what type of sandwiches he likes?

I was thinking poor auld Enoch is showing the same level of fortitude that Irish political prisoners have shown in the past.

But obviously the main difference is Enoch has not brought it to a life and death point - as yet. I am not sure he can because I assume a hunger strike and potential dying of same - would be a sin in the eyes of God?

There is no way this fella is going to give in with his protest from Burke's point of view it is a spiritual. political, workplace, and judicial wrong.

It has got me thinking that very few people in society these days would literally put their money where their mouth is.

To have some follow through and stick to their principles. I still think the way he has gone about things is incorrect. But one thing is for sure Burke does have the courage of his convictions, not many people can say that. Maybe ironically the transgender student, who bravely fought against social norms. And has shown their own courage of their convictions.

Burke is similar to the Irish Republican martyrdom complex with it's mix of passive aggression and direct action. Will Burke end up losing all sympathy, or even gaining some over time from those who were ambivalent or on the fence?

I think this situation is ripe for a film or play. McDonagh could do it. Brendan Gleeson the voiceover narration of Burke's internal thoughts. And Colin Farrell playing the forlorn Burke, standing outside the school gates.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Boring movie. But for what it's worth, Cillian Murphy.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Hold off on the soup and sandwiches... though maybe the bould Mr Burke could take inspiration from some of those political prisoners and starve himself to death...

Would you genuinely want this bloke anywhere near your kids? He is clearly mentally unstable. I would not trust him whatsoever. Anybody who was willing to spend over 100 days in mountjoy over a pronoun should be nowhere near kids or adults.

Doesn't seem to be any mention on Twitter of Burke turning up at the school this morning, though I'd say that's more a case of people just presuming he's there and no longer caring. It'd be more of a story at this point if he didn't show up.

why do people keep fixating that he’s “a good teacher” like maybe he is good as a teacher but he’s a head the ball so?

he can be the best of the best but if he’s this unhinged (and sorry like anyone doing what he’s doing is tapped in the head a bit) then he shouldn’t be near kids.

I honestly wouldn’t want him lecturing college students. The Mrs saw on Facebook or Twitter or one of those yesterday a comment about him that said something like

”Oh good, another man that won’t respect ‘no’ or court orders, that’s what we need around kids”

    People like him are dangerous.
