My interest rose for Lockwood being from Joe Cornish, then lowered by its young cast and presumed YA origin and tone. Shame; was a similar reaction to The Midnight Club: ooh new thing from Mike Flanagan!! Oh, it's for/starring teenagers.

I have watched the first three episodes and it is enjoyable, the lead trio are very good and it's a really interesting premise.

I would say it skews pretty young. When it comes to Joe Cornish stuff I would say if you like the kid who would be king you might enjoy it.

Had the time to watch All Quiet on the Western Front yesterday afternoon. Bloody hell, it's grim. Not a big movie watcher but had to watch another movie last night just to push All Quiet out of my head.

Ah Terminator 3: a film that is genuinely brilliant in its last 10 minutes, to the extent it's an entirely different movie from the preceding runtime. And one of those sequels that has become retroactively better thanks to all the even shíttier follow-ups that came after it. Not good as such, just more accomplished and coherent.

I have four series in my Continue Watching List that that are ready to play their episodes - but I finished watching them several weeks ago.

I know how to remove them but does anyone know what causes this?

if a person was more sympathetic towards the Palestinian side, would this not be a show for me ?

Was just about to say Netflix handing out some goodies recently to butter us up for the incoming password sharing ban but I see its mentioned in this link. Gona be a cancellation from us when it happens. Would be interesting to see the cancellation stats for their testing of it so far.

Fauda does not paint the operational tactics of Israeli defence forces in a nice light. It doesn't sugar coat anything, just tells the story primarily from the perspective of Israeli forces.

Possibly, as it is very clear how the Israeli's perform in the show. If you were already leaning towards the Paletinian perspective, it might reinforce your opiniion.

I would never watch that type of show but can't stop watching this, the editing and replays of action along with the recorded commentary of contestants watching others do battle is slickly done. Some great characters among the contestants also. Wholesome yet entertaining

The amount of people I've seen say they don't share their password but don't log into Netflix once a month either is amazing. A lot of them seen to only be realising this now and questioning why they're still paying for it. Maybe they'll be losing more than just the password sharers.

Just started season 2 of Fauda and whilst still enjoying it, I feel like it's the same themes/story lines just repackaged.

Which isn't surprising giving the naturally restrictive real life context. But surprised that season 4 is so well received. Will have to stick with it givin the high praise 4 is getting.

Id agree with others, it's 100% pro Israel. Its not touched (so far) on any of the subtext for Palestinian "terrorism". Israeli expansionism or general treatment of Palestinians by Israeli forces.

It's a sanitised action packed view from the Israeli forces pov. Who are all badass and willing to die for israel where as the Palestinians are painted as infighting and easily turned from their own cause.

Fauda 2 ....the Palestinian viewpoint... Make it Netflix !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,492 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Fauda was made in Israel and stars mostly Israeli actors so is bound to be one sided in the debate i.e Palestinians are terrorists and need to be taken out.

I'm not good at film reviews. But I thought this was a very decent production.

Visually superb, haunting and effective film score by Volker Bertelmann.

As is usual for me, I find it hard to emotionally relate to characters in war films, but the acting seemed to stand up. Perhaps the impact might be more powerful on the big screen. A very good recounting of the previous version that I have seen from 1979, with a few changes to the narrative (I have not read the book).

Overall, I recommend it, and the 2.5 hours didn't seem overly long.

Just started Killer Ratings, Brazilian documentary about a crime tv show host accused of ordering murders to boost his shows ratings and that he was actually a gangster getting rid of his rivals at the same time! (he was also a politician)

    Nuts!

does Fauda pick up after the first season? I think I only got through about 3 eps before packing it in - thought it was pretty poor to be honest

I’m 9 episodes away in on Fauda season 2 and it’s very good. It’s a great cat and mouse hunt on both sides Israeli special forces and Hamas terrorists both chasing each other. I had forgotten most about season 1 as I watched it when it first came out. Season 2 does show a bit of the human side of the Palastine side with the stories of Shirin, the younger brother of Nidal and the many hectic everyday life scenes around Nablus.

Bad Day For The Cut was a bit of an unpolished gem, little rough around the edges but some great acting and humour throughout
