BBC 2 NI HD due to arrive on the Sky & Freesat EPGs tomorrow. In the RoI it will be on Sky 142. The generic BBC2 HD at 347 is due to close. In NI itself it will be on 102, while in other UK regions it will probably be somewhere in the 970s.

EDIT: For other UK regions it's due to be 970.

They often use the 10pm Sun-Thurs slot for local programmes. Friday evening can also be disrupted by local sport.

Any scheduled recordings for the old BBC Two HD need to be replaced. Last night's ones still appeared in the list, but failed to record. Tonight's are now gone.

Detectorists gone too. Unless I want to watch it in SD on my 59" screen.

@Heighway61 @eguiney According to another forum, it seems the other BBC2 HD is up around 949ish. I don't have a Freesat box so cant confirm this.

Absolutely. It's easy to set up any of the BBCs on a menu with a freesat arrangement. We don't use the NI version at all,

The big news is that BBC One is going HD across the English regions, so I’d expect lots of shuffling about as they re-jig capacity.

There was some brief Freesat EPG test data available showing all of the BBC One English Regions and remaining BBC TV Channels in HD on Monday. The tests had shown up on various DVB-S transponders on 28.2E for about 24 hours.

However these tests have ended for now.

The DVB-S HD tests were on transponders that currently show all of the BBC One English Regions and other BBC channels full time in SD. They will eventually be upgraded to DVB-S2 to support HD broadcasting from now and the end of March.

There are also going to be some big changes coming for all of the existing BBC channels in HD on Sky and Freesat as well.

They will gradually move over to new frequencies once the HD tests for the BBC One English Regions begin in the next few weeks. These tests will also include the HD feeds for BBC Alba, Parliament and the Red Button.

The first of the DVB-S2 HD tests will begin on the 24th of January according to Clean Feed's website.

    10.45pm Upcoming BBC satellite changes

Some BBC satellite updates coming up this month and next.

Astra 2E, transponder 48 (10818V) will be cleared on 24th January. That affects:

    • BBC One South SD
    • BBC One South West SD
    • BBC One Oxford SD
    • BBC News Channel SD
    • BBC One Northern Ireland SD
    • BBC Two Northern Ireland SD

The transponder will then be updated to DVB-S2 and from 13th February will carry the following channels (and others):

    • BBC One London HD
    • CBeebies HD
    • BBC Four HD

Ahead of those changes, testing of BBC One South HD continues. BBC One Oxford SD is now a relay of BBC One South, following the closure of the Oxford TV news operation last month.

BBC One South West HD follows soon.

**BBC Two Northern Ireland HD formally launches on satellite this Thursday (testing has been ongoing for months).

**BBC Two NI HD has already launched on Sky and Freesat on the 5th of January.

The post on Clean Feed was posted on the 2nd of January.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but there is another BBC test channel on

    12422 H 27500 2/3, DVB-S QPSK SIDs 6425 and 6426 called "BBC One Nightlight" for now.

The idea is to replace existing SD regional variations with this single version advising viewers to upgrade to HD. I'm guessing the two SIDs are for Sky and Freesat.

For anyone still using a non-HD Sky box, BBC One/Two NI will change to UK-wide versions tomorrow.

The HD versions of regional BBC One for England, BBC Parliament, BBC Red Button and BBC Alba will launch over a month beginning tomorrow, so "Other Channels" may need to be updated. The timetable is at the following address:

    https://www.hdsatelliteupgrade.co.uk/when-does-my-area-switch

BBC Radio stations are also going to move over that period

It seems the BBC SD/HD reshuffle has begun. Official FreeSat boxes should retune themselves automatically.

We'll probably soon find out who is watching SD versions on FTA boxes. "Brace for impact" 😜

BBC1 NI HD got moved for the UK outside of NI regions on the Sky EPG. Moved from 953 to 979. BBC2 NI HD at 970. Odd that BBC2 is ahead of BBC1 now.

Great if it happens. Out of all the main UK channels (from the BBC, ITV, Ch4, Ch5), that would only leave 5Star, 5USA, 5Action, 5Select (and a couple of others) that would remain in SD FTA at 28.2E after the BBC changes finishing at the end of March.

The old SD BBC TP has been cleared of existing services and has changed parameters to S2

    10818 V 23000 3/4 DVB-S2 8PSK

They really ain't hanging around 😁

Changes continue on 10818 with the addition of a BBC1 HD E Midlands region, BBC2 HD Wales? and Cbeebies HD so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,970 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

BBC One East HD and BBC One East Midlands HD will be launched on Sky's UK EPG from Wednesday the 1st of February.

I would assume that they will be launched on Freesat the day before it on the 31st of January.
