Kitty Holland’s way of reporting and relating this story and how her paper, the Irish Times, framed this story has turned what should be a watershed moment when Irish people are horrified and reject the far right, into the biggest coup and PR win the far right has ever had, just when they could have been delivered a massive blow.

How do you mean? How is it a PR win for the far right at all?

Because the story was incredible from the get go. The reporting of it was inaccurate. The Irish Times was wrong to claim the journalist was an eye witness to an attack she hadn’t seen.

This has led many, many people to believe that the attack never took place at all which it obviously did.

This will embolden the far right and their supporters to claim that every future attack on migrants, and I am afraid there will be more.

Will be dismissed as a false flag, fake news, etc, etc and for many people the seed of doubt has been sown by this article.

Multo autem ad rem magis pertinet quallis tibi vide aris quam allis

The Irish Times was wrong to claim the journalist was an eye witness to an attack she hadn’t seen.

    What did they report exactly?

"Social Affairs Correspondent Kitty Holland speaks to In The News about witnessing an attack by men with dogs and a baseball bat on a makeshift tent camp in Dublin on Saturday." (link)

    Or there is

    image.png

None of which strictly stipulates EYE witness.

I thought you had exhausted this tangent honestly.

Where in that article does it show what gardai have actually said. I can’t see any announcement from the gardai about the suspect. Just a news site mentioning “sources”.

Again if there is a link I’m missing happy to be corrected.

I think we all have the same available internet information as you.

Some mental gymnastics going on here. At the end of the day far right scum used a sexual assault to justify attacking a homeless camp, and are calling for more violence against the police.

Nothing more, nothing less. Can't wait to hear Gript's spin on this

So if I am following it correctly we have a far right problem in ireland.

A mostly peaceful nation with no far right elected person in government and the only party got a few hundred votes last election.

We have several idiots who are scumbags but very few right wing people in the country.

We are actively allowing illegal people from countries who hate Europeans and follow a religion that preaches hate towards us.

These people actively hate us and have caused terrorist attacks all over Europe.

What is a bigger danger to Ireland, a few skangers causing trouble or people who follow a religion that hates us.

The left by pushing for letting These people into the country illegally are the biggest threat to Ireland.

Far more of a threat than a few Irish scumbags.

the longer this goes on, kitty Holland is losing what little credibility she had ...

More downplay again to pretend all these violent thugs arent far right.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

"Tens of thousands"? Gonna need a source on that one.

"Tommy Robinson", or possibly convicted fraudster Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, isn't remotely interested in the fate of girls who have been raped. He is only interested in stirring up racist arseholes in order to con money out of them to feed his cocaine habit.

If you can provide proof to me that all these attacks are far right then please do so.

I will go with the fact that the only far right party in ireland has a few hundred supporters, but I am happy for your proof that contradicts that fact.

Otherwise I can say your pretending all these people are far right thugs without anything to back it up.

Whether they are far right or not I believe anyone assaulting anybody whether Irish or not should be jailed.

Are you going to pretend that people from the middle east do not follow a religion that hates Europeans and has backwards views towards women?

There isn’t a “ far right problem in Ireland “ which is different than saying there is no far right in Ireland , every country has some ( even North Korea probably has a far right movement who goose step across the forced Labour camps when the guards are asleep )

only wimps and hustlers believe there is a “ problem “

Again with this off the wall nonsense criteria that an attack can only be deemed far right if the attacker is a confirmed far right party card carrying member. Graham Carey called for Jews to be wiped out. He is having daily extremist racist rants at the moment. Of course he is bleedin far right. 😑

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? All far right activists are thugs.

All thugs aren't far right activists. That isn't downplaying anything.

The "far right" is just the boogey man the left use whenever they have a issue with a group. The people that keep repeating that crap you will find spend all their time online especially on twitter fighting the good fight

You know who else is calling for jews to be wiped out? Palestinians. Are they far right as well? Racism and antisemitism are common among far right people but they aren't the definition of far right. There are plenty of left leaning individuals who are both racist and antisemitic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,311 ✭✭✭Backstreet Moyes

You called all these thugs far right, I am asking for your proof that all of them are far right.

You are making a nonsense criteria that if someone attacks a foreigner they are far right.

I am simply asking you to show your evidence that all these thugs are far right.

It should be easy to do seems you keep calling them far right.

Labelling people “ far right “ for everything is the level of debate sophistication of pegging a bucket of sh1t over someone, doesn’t matter what the person slimed says or points they argue, neutral observers ( general public) only see slime , it’s a silencing tactic

If someone attacks foreigner because they are a foreigner yes that is far right. 😶 Graham "we need to wipe out the jews" Carey is far right. This propaganda playbook of deflection, denial and downplaying is so obvious at this stage.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? the label far right comes from the american type, Trumpite bollocks they are spewing about ireland for the irish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,503 ✭✭✭✭Mad_maxx

What if a thug attacks a foreigner because they are violent thugs who regularly attack Irish people too ?, if the foreigner wrongly presumes the motives were racist ( instead of mindless thuggery and zero political agenda)is it still a far right attack?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,781 ✭✭✭✭maccored

thats thugs fighting each other - no need to decide which is 'foreign'

Anarchist in a St Pauli top petrol bombing a synagogue last night in New York.

As one of the activists here said on another thread , the struggle in Gaza is part of the struggle against capitalism.

'Cause de jooos are behind both.

The Left occasionally goes through fundamentalist phases where it becomes less about industrial relations and more about remaking society, forcing it to fit their vision, when reality clashes with that vision, they need scapegoats, need to assign blame to people because they or their insane creed cannot be at fault, that's when they start the serious killing and repression.

It's always nearly when the middle class become the dominant force in it.

    Never again.

Welsh Labour were more subtle about it but still took a socialist perspective on it.

A Holocaust memorial with no Jews invited or even mentioned.

Not all in labour would care who was invited but the large segment that do, care very much and are very forceful about it, as we see from many in this thread.

OK so have you proof all these scumbags are attacking them because they are a foreigner.

Or are you just making things up when you have no idea in most cases the motivations.

People from the middle East follow a religion that preaches hate to Europeans and we have seen terrorist attacks across Europe.

They attack Europeans because they are European and their religion tells them to.

By your definition they attack Europeans because they are from Europe.

By your definition of far right they are far right.

Why do you support far right people who illegally enter ireland?

if any of these racist morons were serious theyd be protesting outside the dail or there local TD and not frignting people who probably cant even understand what there shouting about there just out looking for trouble against refugees
