I recently installed solar panels with the iboost diverter to send excess anergy to my immersion heater for hot water. I can set it on a timer to heat hot water early in the morning using electricity from the grid so there is hot water for showering etc at this time of year. However it takes twice as long to heat sufficient water compared with how long it took before I got solar panels. Anyone have any experience about this?

Check how much power it is using when it's turned on. It should be 3kw if using the long bottom element and 1.5kw for the top element afaik. It could be wired wrong or need settings changed. Worst case the element could be gone.
