Contractor wins a court case for unpaid hours, the amount claimed included VAT at 23%. Are the drip payments of 400/month liable to VAT in hand of the contractor?

Yes. Assuming you are working the ‘cash receipts’ VAT accounting basis, 23% of each €400 received is VAT.

18.75% of the 400 is VAT. the 400 is vat inclusive so it is 123% of the amount before vat. do the maths and it is 325.20 + 23% vat
